The real question is, what does she want from him?

He smiled down at her again as he said "Of course, it's all going to be okay," filling her with warmth and happiness and appreciation that she rarely got in her life up to that point. She felt his arms on her waist, stared up at him, and in that moment she did the only thing she could think of: she closed her eyes, raised up on her tiptoes and kissed him.

Jenna heard a muffled mmph as she did so, like he was trying to say something but she caught him off guard. After a moment, she realized what she was doing and pulled back, her cheeks beet red. Oh no, what did I do, he must think I'm a freak, what did I just-

"Hey. Stay with me here," she heard him say as she started to fall back into her own mind. She trusted him, tried to refocus on him. "Are you okay?"

"...yes, I'm okay. I'm sorry."

"You don't need to be sorry." Again that smile, that radiant smile that made her feel like everything would be okay. "I wasn't expecting it," she tried to awkwardly cut him off to apologize again, but he just continued, "but you didn't do anything wrong. I just don't want you to think that's expected or necessary. You haven't upset me, you're safe and everything will be okay regardless of what happens next."

She listened to him, heard the soothing comfort in his voice, but also heard something else: desire. He was trying to be kind and give her an out, but he still hadn't let go of her, his hands agonizingly close to the zipper of her hoodie that was barely clinging to her.

"You don't have to do anything you don't want to do," he continued, still looking into her eyes, "so all you have to do is say the word and you can head home. I'll just see you next week," he leaves that door open, reminding Jenna that she'll still be welcome no matter what happens.
