The problems with multipresence
"There are a lot of powers that fall into the general category of summoning or controlling minions. It doesn't really matter what type of minion they are, be they humans or undead or elementals or animals or whatever. I had one host who wanted the ability to control spiders. Regardless, the inverse law of ninjas states that the strength of any given minion is inversely proportional to the number of minions you have. So if you only have one minion, it will have a certain level of power, but if you have two, then each will only have half the power of your original one. If you have ten, each will only have one-tenth the power. If you have a hundred, each will only have one hundredth the power. And so on."
"Now, there are a few different ways we can go about designing a multipresence ability, but no matter how it's done, it will almost certainly fall into the category of controlling minions, which means this law will apply to it. In fact, since you specifically want to create copies of yourself, that will mean that this law will apply not only to your copies but to you as well. In essence, if you make a second you, then both you and your copy will only be half as powerful as if you hadn't made the copy at all. Each copy you make will lower your own power as your power is split among all of your selves."
"That's not to say you shouldn't do it. I don't want to stifle your creativity or talk you out of something. I just want to clarify that, if you choose to go this route, making ten of yourself isn't going to multiply your power by ten. Each copy isn't just going to be another full-powered version of yourself. If you care a lot about your individual power, then multipresence is technically going to make you less powerful than if you hadn't gotten it to begin with."
You consider Drake's points for a while and ask him some questions about the specifics of how it would work. Eventually you make your decision. "I think... I still want it. I appreciate the heads up, but being able to be in multiple places at the same time seems too awesome to give up."
"Fair enough." Drake says. "That one will definitely be the hardest one to give you. Nobody's asked for that exact thing before, so I'll need to design a whole new artifact from scratch to do what you're describing. But it would probably be for the best if we waited until after you have finished the stages of adopting your other powers before trying to add this one, so we should have time to work something out."
"Putting that aside for now, in terms of shapeshifting, there are a few different directions we could go and I'd like your input on which one fits best."
