Chapter 3

The noble monk Caitlyn Bluemoon
The first hour had passed and the three beautiful elves prepared to make their move through the portal. The beautiful dark elf stood at the forefront, backpack strapped securely her large foreboding sword in hands. “Lets be careful, in case betrayal is afoot.” She told the others.
Caitlyn nodded, her lancer companion, drawing her katana, as her spear was to hard to wield with a backpack on. Instead she had strapped it to the back, that she carried. The grey elf carried nothing as it would prevent her from fighting.
First Nikita moved into the vortex, a few moments later, Brianna followed. Finally the noble made her way through the vortex. The world faded away, and her head spun. Movement without motion, dizziness without seeing, and then suddenly she was on the other side. “We appear to be stuck here.” The priestess said, before Caitlyn had recovered from the trip.
“At least we have a moon to work with.” Brianna noted softly looking up into the dark sky, the luminescent orb big and bright. Glancing up, the young elf saw the cover was bathed by a big bright moon, in a starless sky.
“No sign of the camp, we should move down the tunnel. Perhaps they made camp ahead.” Their leader mused, turning and heading into a fissure, that presented it self as the only way through a sheer rock face, that cut the sandy cove off from the rest of the island.
A few short minutes brought them to a small chamber, ever burning torches keeping it lit. The chamber, if you could call it that, was sheer face, on the other side. A drop into oblivion, and from it stretched three paths, made of supernaturally bent wood, that extended out and away from each other.
“Some of our city’s use these kinds of roads.” Brianna noted, staring out into the humongous forest. The trees were huge, like old elven growths from their homeland.
“The humans should have made camp here. They must have moved on, to find whatever they could. Its not a breach of the truce, but we still have the Nomads behind us. We'll drop the gear here. Split up and scout ahead. Twenty minutes, then turn back. Should leave us with enough time, to decide to wait, or press on together.” Their leader decided, as the other two glanced over the edge.
Nodding, as the lancer set down her pack against the rock wall. With one last look at her two companions, the small monk chose the only bridge not taken, and trekked across it. Within twenty minutes the bridge finally arrived at a large landing, almost like one of the old trees had been cut in half, to make a space. Strangely, a few trees sprouted from the bigger tree, and lent shadows to the ground, with its leafy boughs.
A few wolves were napping beneath the trees. A couple had their glowing red eyes open watching the bridge. Could they see her? Why were they holding still, why not react? It was time to turn back, maybe it was best to leave them be.
Does her curiosity win, or will she retreat to saftey?
