Chapter 2

Who wakes up first?
The man
I stretched my tired limbs, before opening my eyes. The blue sky greeted me and I felt soft, yet rasping ground underneath me as I noticed the crowns of some surrounding trees spiking into my view. I soon sat up to see me bare legs and feet. I had no pants on. And no shirt, either. Then I spotted a movement in the corner of my eye. There was a body on the floor just a few feet away. I stood up, brushed off a few leaves and small twigs, and walked over to the body. It was that of a woman. I tried to shake her awake and ended up turning her on her back. She had orange hair, very bright red maybe, and slim lips. I have to admit, that wasn't the first thing I noticed. As she was also naked and had her back turned to me, the first thing I laid my eyes upon was – well, her back and her behind. A firm pair of butt cheeks, round, not too big. Now on her back, I looked at her bare chest. Her boobs rose and fell in the steady rhythm of her breath. They were equally firm and not too big either. My gaze wandered down her shallow, but well-trained stomach, and down to her private area. It was clean-shaven, just like me, and her lower lips slightly parted by a seemingly pink strip of flesh. I quickly looked away in shame and rose back to my feet.
The air around was not cool, but rather slightly warm. The surrounding trees seemed to be birches and from where I was standing, I could see the end of the forest. I could see a big meadow behind a line of trees maybe 30 yards (ca. 27 m) away.
I heard a noise behind me and turned around. The woman had woken up and was now looking at me. Her skin looked even paler than before.
“Who are you?”, she said, covering her chest and privates. I took a step towards her and wanted to answer, but had to stop and think. I didn't know my name.
“I don't know.”, I said truthfully, “Who are you?”
“I don't know.”, she said with a terrified expression. She slowly sank to the ground.
“Listen, I don't know how we got here, and I don't know who we are, but I think we should get some help, fast.”
The woman got back up. “How?”
Again, a question I had no answer to. “I – Uhh – I think we should get out of the woods first. Maybe there's a street or a dirt path leading somewhere?”
She nodded and gestured me to lead the way. So I did.
We reached the meadow and walked out of the woods towards a hill. The high grass reached up to my knees, and I saw a few bees flying by.
From atop the hill, we could see a mountain, a river, and we were able to oversee a great part of the mostly empty planes that lay ahead of us. I turned to my involuntary companion. She was looking around frantically.
“Hey, – uh -”, I still didn't know her name, “Looks like nobody is around here.”
“What?”, she turned to me, “Oh – yeah. Listen, – uh – what did you say was your name?”
I shrugged.
“Steve… Listen, Steve…”, apparently I'm Steve now, “…how about we head upstream following that river? Maybe we find a bridge or, even better, a village.”
She might be right. But thinking about it, it might be a better idea to keep near the forest to avoid sunburns. So I explained my thoughts to her, and we weighed our options.
