Chapter 6 by SweetDepravity SweetDepravity

Wich path should you follow?

The lower floors seem faster

With a heavy sigh, you look over your options. The catacombs sound to be utterly terrifying. Then again, braving the desert isn't any better. While you're fairly certain your powers grant you immortality, roasting alive probably isn't something you can heal from. What would Heather do in this situation?

You know the answer immediately, your older sister would charge down into the dungeons, regardless of the danger. She might be trying to find you right now, and here you are standing around! Seeing a nearby torch blazing upon the wall, you snatch it up and begin you descent, slowly heading down the many stairs towards this supposed shortcut.

The air grows colder the further you go, making you mourn for your missing clothing, though thankful for the flickering warmth of the torch in your hand. At least it feels dry down here, and not the damp ruin you expected. Finally, the stairs end, leaving at what appears to be the ground floor. A large stone door blocks your path, carved with many squiggly Egyptian doodles, no doubt warning against what you're about to do.

For just a moment, you consider turning back, but you've come too far to stop now. You push against it firmly, it takes a good deal of effort, but eventually you **** the slab to move, unsealing the secret tunnels beneath. It feels far too silent down here, but you're too smart to complain about a lack of monsters. At first, the path seems straightforward, until roughly twenty paces in, when the path forks in two separate directions.

The hallways seem identical, with no visible difference between them. While it does make choosing a bit more difficult, you did just enter the dungeon, so you don't expect anything too dangerous yet. But you know that the longer you linger, the more likely you are to draw attention. If only you had a coin to flip, that would make things easier.

As if by magic, you notice something glimmering on the floor, it's a coin! Quickly, you snatch it up, finding that it appears to be crafted from solid gold. Depicted on on side is the head of a Jackal, while the other seems to be some sort of Scarab beetle. "Heads I go left, tails I go right." With that in mind, you flick your thumb, flipping the old coin high into the air, while nervously anticipating the outcome.

How does the coin land?
