The last few challengers

Kari's boyfriend defeats Brock as she is putting the last of her clothes in her backpack. He stops and gives her a puzzled look as she walks over to him dressed in nothing but her sneakers. She stops in front of him and they whisper a few words back and forth, with him sending a few stern glances your way. As she walks up to Brock, he sits down next to his and Kari's things, visibly annoyed that his girlfriend is going to be showing off her nude body on TV.

Kari herself has channeled this humiliation into a resolve to defeat Brock in record time. She tosses out a Sceptile which sweeps Brock's Golem, Shuckle, and Aerodactyl in under a minute. The ease with which she beat him puts you at ease a little. If she beat Brock, surely you can, too! She snatches her Boulder Badge from Brock and is back next to her boyfriend in a flash, immediately digging through her bag to get her clothes back on. She's dressed and the two of them are rushing to leave before Blue even begins his battle.

Speaking of Blue, his Squirtle is raring to go against Brock's Rockruff. The battle is more difficult than Blue is used to, but his Squirtle works off of its type advantage masterfully, launching devastating water-type attacks whenever an opening presents itself.

Brock then sends out a Shuckle to oppose Squirtle. While its strong defenses help it last longer than Rockruff, it still stands no chance against the water-type turtle and eventually Blue is proclaimed the winner. You find yourself wrapped up emotionally invested in Blue's victory, clapping and cheering him on as he claims his Boulder Badge.

As he comes back to the bleachers, the loudspeakers call your name. It takes you a moment to realize that they're calling you up. When you do notice, you are both the most excited and the most nervous you've felt in your life. Your feet carry you swiftly to the challenger's box but your heart won't stop beating out of your chest. You toss your Charmander out to face Brock's Geodude and try to ignore the TV cameras ready to capture your battle.
