The demonstration.

"Not that you will be around to receive the answer, since your question included clothes then I won't have you strip off." Mr Smog instructed.

"Please sir" Jodie begged.

"Enough." Mr Smog snaped, then he turned to address the class. "So I would normally chew my food and allow the amylase in my saliva to break down any starch. However, if I do so I will not be able to teach, and Jodie won't get her question answered. But if I was to chew Jodie that would be an example of mechanical action as the food would be broken into smaller chunks by my teeth but not of chemical digestion as Jodie contains no starch as she or her clothes are not plant matter." Mr Smog clarified before engulfing Jodie's head. He may look mostly human but was able to stretch his body in ways a human could not.

Mr Smog made his mouth and throat transparent to show Jodie being sent down his throat. It took a few minutes and while this happened his students took notes. They never wanted to be seen like they were not doing anything.

Once Jodie was swallowed all the way down Mr. Smog made his stomach transparent so the students. The students could see Jodie struggle and scream as she sat in a pool of liquid. Mr Smog spoke to the class "now it will take a few hours for my stomach to fully digest Jodie. Luckily, this is a split double so after lunch, we will have more to work with. But for now, you can see the pool of liquid Jodie is sitting in. It is mostly Hydrochloric acid this provides the acidic conditions needed for the enzyme Protease to work. The acid breaks down large food molecules into smaller particles the enzymes can work on. Protease breaks down protein. "

The students made some notes on the enzymes and organs that had been mentioned already. Towards the middle of the lesson, a giggle sounded across the classroom. Mr Smog who had been writing on the board turned around. "Who did that?"

Autumn Blossom, one of the fairies, spoke up "Sorry sir, but Jodie's clothes are gone." She blushed, hoping her immature interruption would not doom her.

"Thanks for that comment Autumn, I guess that brings us to the reason Jodie is in there in the first place. Yes, the acid in my stomach would break down clothing. But no, they are not "digested" as I will receive no nutritional value from them. The enzymes in my gut are not the right ones to break down the chemicals in clothing into something that can be absorbed in the body." Mr Smog replied. For now, he was not concerned with Autumn's outburst but she was now on his watch list for failing students. "with the clothing gone, the enzymes and acids can now access Jodie's skin and muscle. The Protease will break down the protein in those cells as the acid breaks them apart. This leaves the carbohydrates and lipids also called fats to be broken down later." Mr Smog continued his lesson.

The thrashing intensified from Jodie as her body was broken down. Her skin turned red and then got dissolved away. The pain caused her to blackout as the acids started eating into her mussel. Towards the end of the class, some of her digested body started to drain into the small intestine.

Me. Smog spoke up. "Class as you can see some of Jodie has entered my small intestine. He made one side of it transparent and the skin/muscle hiding it and his liver. "Here the liver creates bile, which is stored in the gall bladder." Mr Smog pointed out. "The bile neutralises the stomach acid so it doesn't burn the intesitns. The small intestine has two jobs. More enzymes from the pancreas, Lipase and carbohydrates break down carbohydrates into sugars and lipids into fatty acids and glycerol. Now as you can see..." directing the class to his stomach. "... there is still most of Jodie being digested in the stomach. With a big meal like this the stomach will empty and fill a few times to spread out the digested food entering the small intestine. This is all we have time for this lesson but I will see you after lunch where we will talk about absorption and excretion.
