The cousin nobody rarely remembers

Lauren looked shocked at the clothes, they looked like they belonged to a teenager rather than a grown woman. The pink crop top had glittery letters spelling out "SWIFTIE" across the front, while the high-waisted jean shorts featured multiple rips and frayed edges. There were also knee-high socks with pink and green horizontal stripes and neon-colored sneakers with flashing lights.

Lauren dressed because what choice did she have, without looking in the mirror she opened the door and made her way back to her seat.

"Uh, Jade, why am I wearing this, I look like a stupid kid," Lauren asked incredulously.

"Shhh, just trust me, okay?" Jade replied with a mischievous grin. "We need to make sure your mom doesn't suspect anything. So, here's the plan: once we land, I'll tell them that I had a last-minute emergency that you have gone to fix for me, how nice of you. Then, I'll conveniently mention that I bumped into 'cousin Susie,' yes, that's you, on the flight, that way, some of the embarrassing stuff I have planned for you, the rest of the family will just think it's Susie and not you, our family is sooo massive nobody will get onto it.

Lauren shook her head in disbelief. "Nobody will believe this isn't me, you really think some clothes are going to change that."

Jade leaned in closer and lowered her voice. "we ain't done yet, I'll need to give you a bit more of a transformation, also so many of the family have similar looks, I'll pull this off believe me."

With that, Jade pulled out a compact mirror, a cap, and some wipes from her small bag. Before Lauren knew what was happening, Jade was removing her makeup thoroughly.

Jade tossed the cap to Lauren and said "cover all your hair with that, I've got a plan for your hair but I'll sort that later," Lauren didn't like the sound of that, she looked at the cap, pink of course, with words written on the front in white "probably listening to Taylor Swift" it said, Jade smirked and added "oh and I want you regularly humming some of her songs and doing a little dance around the family, don't pretend you don't know any of her songs, everybody does, now I'm not finished with your look yet"
