Welcome back?
The bended City [Lengthy Base description inside]
As the procession of people enters the bended city guided by Catherine, who of course has spent a lot of time looking at the plans for said city and thus knows the layout by heart, let’s take a moment to take a look at the city ourselves.
The city has a single entrance at the base of the Wekgrond. Protected by high walls at the front and the mountain itself at the back the city is set into a cut-out circle in the ancient stone of the Wekgrond.
From the gate the path branches into two parallel streets, divided by a canal that is currently empty but meant to hold water later, the paved streets themselves are then divided into two lanes, one for people entering and one for people leaving the city. The streets are long, linear and end in a giant plaza in the middle of the city. In the middle of the plaza stands a giant magical pump that looks like a fountain, meant to fill the canals and canalisation with a fresh stream of water.
From the plaza, five more streets of the same design divide the city into two giant, four big and one small districts.
The two giant districts:
Primarily used for living quarters and some entertainment these districts are most notable for their size. They are situated to the east and west of the bended city and are called District Anjar and District Droy respectively to honour two people that helped Ulal to get where he is.
The four big districts:
These are the districts where progress happens. The most successful and influential of people live here to be close to the happenings of their respective field.
District Arcana: The North-eastern district. Here Ulal will raise new mages and train new ones. Notable buildings are the great Academia complex, a set of buildings dedicated to teaching and the gaining of knowledge, containing a grand library, massive schooling quarters and similar things of such nature.
District Aclysia: The North-western district. Named before Ulal’s discovery of the witch and kept to flatter her afterwards this district is the alchemical counterpart to the Arcana district. Although the alchemists have to go to the same Acadamia in Arcana they also have a set of their own buildings, most of important of which are the Seven Towers of Experiments, where more dangerous experiments will be conducted so that in case they go haywire the whole block won’t be set on fire. There are also the great gardens, where the alchemists will be able to grow their own ingredients.
District Erschja: The South-eastern district. This district is specifically for the creative side of the population. Crafters, magical or not, artists and thinkers of all walks of life will gather here and create new works and inventions for the glory of Ulal. The great crafting hall, where everyone can rent a fully equipped room to work in is a notable building in this district.
District Zerja: The South-western district. The district of traders and economist. Here all the wares that will flow in and out of the bended City will find a place to change hands. With easy access to the main road and the middle plaza this district has no notable buildings but is responsible to organize the bazar’s, which happen inside the district weekly and on the plaza monthly.
The small district:
To the north, behind the fountain and after following the street all the way to the end, one stands before the district Imperja. Half part of the mountain a giant tower is built from the ancient stone and where the rest of the has a friendly colour scheme from the white marble of the buildings over the light grey stone that paves the street and the silver and gold runes that adorn everything, the tower has a menacing aura to it.
Made from obsidian, the runes embedded in it stainless steel, it grows far above every other building in the city and to the edge of the crater where the three eye symbol in steel is looking over the city. Calling it, a district is actually a bit of a lie, as it is that singular building with a singular plaza separated from the street by the diverging canal.
The building however is gargantuan and includes more than just the tower as around it, on the walls of the crater, lines of windows show a network of rooms that runs through the stone, all connected to the tower. Together with the courth the district Imperja also houses the army.
Notable rooms/parts inside the tower are:
The Roundtable, where Ulal will hold conferences with his advisors. A circular room with the single, name-giving marble table.
The laboratory, replacing his old enchantment quarter this room has the same design, with the shelves, the worktables and the smaller side chambers.
The Branches of Ministry, smaller or bigger clusters of rooms for ministries bureaucratic apparatus
The Dictating Floor, the highest floor of the tower and Ulal’s own dwelling place. The most interesting room here is his bureau, the room fills half the floor and has a single, semi-circle window through which the Demonmagus can look down on the city.
And where is Ulal in all of this?
