The battle is on!

The Caterpie and Chikorita immediately tore into one another, with Chikorita trying her best to smash through the defenses of the bug Pokémon. My screams of encouragement were quickly drowned out by Caterpie shooting out a massive amount of silk string, completely covering Chikorita in the stuff.

"Go Caterpie!" the bug-researcher screamed, jumping into the air with a cheer. Sure enough, Caterpie unleashed a walloping, smacking into Chikorita who could barely move in response. I continued to call for her to finally break free, but it never happened. Sure enough, the Caterpie was able to whittle down Chikorita's health, and I was returning her after just a few seconds of combat.

Tossing out Sentret, the battle continued with fierce attacks from both sides. Sentret was much faster than Chikorita, and the Caterpie finally went down after just a minute of solid physical attacks. I almost jumped for joy, until the researcher brought out another Caterpie from his belt.

It was becoming clear that this researcher wasn't going to go down easily.

Eventually, Sentret fell to the new Caterpie, leaving my Spearow to pickup the mess and hopefully carry it home. I didn't have many options left, and hoped he would finish this fight.
