Where do you go?

The bathroom

Chapter 3 by WhyNot75

You steered her through the crowd, your hand never leaving the curve of her hip. She moved with you, her stilettos clicking a rapid, anxious rhythm against the floor. You navigated toward the rear of the lounge, where the music dimmed and the air grew thick with the smell of damp stone and old plumbing. You found the hallway leading to the restrooms, a narrow corridor of flickering lights and peeling wallpaper that felt like a descent into a private cellar. She was breathing heavily now, her chest rising and falling in a jagged cadence that matched the thrum of your own blood.

You pushed open the door to the single stall bathroom, the hinges letting out a dry, metallic groan. You ushered her inside, the space so cramped that your chests collided the moment the door swung shut. With a sharp, decisive motion, you reached back and clicked the lock into place. The sound of the bolt sliding home was a finality, a sudden severance from the rest of the world. The room smelled of bleach and cheap floral air freshener, a sterile contrast to the raw, animal heat radiating between your bodies.
