The Way Forward

When Gabby opened the door to her room, she was happy to find Lucy sitting on the couch.

"Hi Gabs. I uh, I wanted to apologize for how I acted earlier." Gabby smiled at her roommate and set next to her.

"It's ok, I forgive you. I understand why you reacted that way." The two shared a quick hug before Lucy gently took Gabby's hands and looked her in the eyes.

"Gabby, we need to work this out. I know how you feel about me, due to your transformation. I know you're not a fan of it, but you can't deny it." Gabby looked away as her cheeks heated up. Lucy took this opportunity to cup her cheek.

"But my feelings for you aren't from any transformation. They're real." Gabby's eyes widened as she snapped her head around.

"Wh-what?" Lucy blushed but pushed through.

"I'm not in love with you, not yet. But I'm definitely falling in love with you. I..." Lucy took a deep breath before asking the big question.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" Gabby looked at her in shock as she thought of everything. Right when Lucy was about to tear up, Gabby kissed her.

"We can try. I don't know if it will work, but I'm willing to try. Lucy, I care about you. I really do, and not just because of my transformation. When I think about you, I feel something much stronger than what I do when I think about Gwen. Like, I can tell that Gwen is Mike's girlfriend, but I don't have any desire to date her myself. Be affectionate with her and kiss her, yes. But with you, it's deeper. And that's me." Lucy tackled Gabby in a hug, causing Gabby to giggle.

"I'm so happy. Thank you thank you thank you. I know things are going to be awkward, especially with Ashley, but we'll make it through." Lucy kissed Gabby before getting off of her and holding out her hand.

"Come on, I have a surprise for you." Gabby took Lucy's hand and let her girlfriend pull her into the bedroom.

Where her jaw hit the ground in shock.
