The Warning

1. 1. That's how many girlfriends I have, 7. That's a lot of girls to keep happy. As much as I love them, I'm still an introvert at heart. That means I sometimes need some time to myself.

Which is why I'm currently taking a solo walk through the park. The sun was beginning to set, meaning it was time to head home.

But I wasn't as alone as I thought I was.

"Hello there, child," said a chilling voice from behind me. I whipped around and saw a man wearing a trench coat over jeans and a black shirt. I couldn't see his face, as his coat had a hood that was casting a shadow over it.

This man sent chills down my spine.

"Back off," I said as I pulled out my pepper spray that I was thankful Heather insists I bring with me.

"Easy, I'm not going to hurt you. Yet," he said before showing he had a gun attached to his waist. Yeah, my pepper spray doesn't stand a chance against that.

"What do you want?" I demanded from him. I have no idea where this confidence is coming from. Well, ignoring my shaking legs at least.

"I'm just here to give you a warning. I know about the power you hold. You've had your fun, but it's becoming time for you to let a real man take charge," he said.

No, he can't mean Jasmine, can he? I thought no one knew about her.

"I'll give you a little more time before I take what's mine. However, if you wish to give her up, bring the lamp here," he said before giving me a piece of paper. There was an address on it. When I looked up, the man was gone.

My legs gave out as my composure broke. That was terrifying. I took several deep breaths before getting up again. The sun had set, and I was once again alone.
