Who will the Voices choose?
The Voices Have Chosen
The prospective chosen wait patiently as you all deliberate. Each of them nervous listening for good news.
Moirin scowls as the only person to seem to express any interest in her only did so because he seemed to not want a non-human chosen. She sighs and leaves the Tower before the deliberation is even over. It's clear to her that she has no chance. She takes a momentary glance at the Kobold, who similarly seems unlikely and is depressed to still see a hopeful look on the creature's face. She gently puts a hand on Yip's shoulder. "Good luck," she says knowing there's no chance, but not wanting to see the poor creature be as disheartened as her.
Lyssa runs a hand through her hair as she listens. The voices seem uncertain and there's at least a few that clearly are interested in her. It seems like at the very least she's preferred over the barbarian and the Kobold, but that's still not quite enough. She glances over at Take and Twyll who are staring with rapt attention at the ceiling, listening intently as the voices begin to focus on the two of them. It sounds close, but Lyssa hears her name less and less as the vote continues. She steps back and leans against the wall, it's clear to her that she's lost, but she's not disheartened like Moirin. Content to stay and see who does end up winning.
Twyll didn't actually expect much of a chance and is pleasantly surprised at how many of the voices seem to want her. She raises her hands clenched into fists and begins chanting quietly, "Twyll, Twyll, Twyll! Come on!" her enthusiasm starts to sour though as the vote reaches a point where it seems to be in contention between her and Take. Both of them are doomed to **** if the other is chosen. Twyll doesn't want to die and momentarily feels a sense of anger. "The ninja girl has already accepted her ****! She said so herself! Choose me! I want to live!" she screams internally, but after a bit she sighs. "That's why I don't deserve to isn't it. She has accepted ****, her reason for wanting this is so she can continue to serve her order. I just don't want to die. I'm selfish..." she admits quietly to herself. She glances back and then flies over to Lyssa, landing on the floor beside her and sitting down against the wall, knees pulled in to her chest. Lyssa glances down at her and slides down to sit as well, reaching out to very carefully pat her head.
"I guess she just deserved it more," Lyssa says and Twyll nods.
"I'll just have to figure something else out. I'm a powerful mage, I'm sure there's some kind of magic out there..." she mutters and Lyssa nods.
"There are other ways to get power. I'll find a way to topple the Tyrant," she agrees.
Take is quiet as she listens. Her masked face not at all betraying her emotions or inner thoughts. When the deliberation is finished she's the one who was chosen and she bows, "I am grateful and humbled by your choice. I will do all that I can to ensure I prove worthy of your decision," she says and then glances back to Lyssa and Twyl and then over to Yip, "I am sorry. I wish there was a way we could have all been chosen. I cannot carry your hopes and dreams for you, but I will do all that I can to succeed so you're sacrifices were not in vain," she says and Lyssa scoffs.
"Yeah it would suck if you got Chosen just to fucking die anyway. Would make it feel real shitty that you got chosen over us," she agrees.
"I believe in you. Good luck!" Twyll says, rubbing disappointed tears from her eyes as she and Lyssa both stand and head out of the Tower.
Yip remains standing. She clearly knows she wasn't chosen, but doesn't seem upset just disappointed. "Yip not good enough. Dragon Mistress Aranthia, The Great Worm, Devourer of Mortals, she who rains fire tell Yip as much. Yip go home... Face punishment," she says sounding just resigned, but not surprised. She walks over to Take and holds out a smooth stone, "you take, might help," she says. Take takes it with a gentle nod and puts it into a pouch. It seemed like a perfectly ordinary stone if quite pretty and Take doubts it will help, but she appreciates the gesture.
Yip leaves as well, Take alone now in the Tower with the Guardian. Take glances at the stairs that will take her into the Tower proper and then bows her head to the Guardian and begins to ascend.
A number of extra buttons appear on the website before you. If you so choose you can see what happens to the women who were rejected. Time is nothing to the tower so you can see how their entire life plays out before switching back to follow the current chosen as she enters the tower.
Follow Take or check on the others first?
