The Verdict

You wake up bright and early full of anticipation. The verdict of this case could decide your safety on campus moving forward. If she gets off then anyone could attack you as long as there are no witnesses. You try not to think about the case as you get dressed and head to the campus courtroom.

You head inside and take a seat next to Rosa. You can see Veronica on the other side. She looks tired and slightly annoyed to even be here.

"All rise for the honorable Judge on this day" says the court official and everyone stands up.

"Thank you, will all except the defendant be seated" the judge says and the court acts accordingly. All eyes are now on the only standing member, Veronica. Everyone in the court room curious to know what will become of her. The judge starts to speak once more "I will now read out the courts decision regarding the situation at hand. As far as character goes, we have an exceptional student and member of the community being accused of act she of all people has fought against. Yet in the mission of our University and court we are here for the bettering of men's rights in our futa dominated society. As such we should give credence to the complaints filed. As I am sure you are all aware, this has been a difficult case to go through. We have contradictory statements and evidence. To make matters worse it is not unfair to label this case as a 'he said, she said'. As for the charge or determination of **** this court finds the defendant to be innocent." The court erupts in murmurs and you hear Veronica sigh a sigh of relief. "Order! On the other hand, as for the counts of **** and physical **** as presented in the testimonies and is photographed, the defendant, Veronica, Vonbaussen is hereby charged as guilty" the Judge commented.

Slightly outraged you stand up and have an outburst "How could she have blackmailed me and physical abused me but not have **** me if they are all referring to the same situation?"

The judge strikes her gavel "Silence. I will not stand for outbursts in my courtroom. The court had a long discussion yesterday regarding this matter young man and you will not undermine the decision making of this court. We determined that the physical **** was found clearly in the bruising on your neck. We determined also that the **** was legitimate considering the package and the photos she sent but that it could not necessarily prove a **** occurred, only that she was attempting to keep you quiet about the act of sex in general for public imagery. The fact that she did this by threatening you was enough for the court to consider this charge necessary. Now, please stop wasting the court's time" The judge said sounding impatient. Unsatisfied, you take your seat once more.

"Now, as for the sentencing. The court will take into consideration your contributions on campus but will more heavily rely upon the verdicts in relation to **** and physical ****. Prior to sentencing, do you have any words you wish to express to the victim at this time?"

"Henry, I'm sorry it went this far. I did not meant to cause you any harm I swear. I... I love you" she turns to the judge and says "I have nothing further your honor".

"I hereby sentence the defendant to two weeks in prison followed by a 6 week restraining order. You are not to take classes with the defendant, and you are not to have contact with the defendant during that time period. During the time period of the restraining order, you will make a conscious effort to avoid the defendant. Is that understood?"

"I understand your honor" Veronica says.

"Very well. I hereby adjourn this case and the court may rest until further notice" The judge strikes the gavel and everyone starts leaving. You see officers slap cuffs on Veronica to start her sentencing. Veronica blows you a kiss and mouths "I love you". Rosa looks to you and says "congratulations, now men have a stronger fighting chance according to the courts" before leaving the courtroom.
