Victory?
The Truth
Khaj got to her a second too late. Right when he was about to grab her, some sort of invisible thunderbolt got through his body, paralyzing him at first. Then, the demon lord dropped to his knees, and looked ****, no movement, no eye glow, nothing.
"What did you do?"
Carmen raised her head and smiled at you approaching.
"I hypothesised that a shock therapy in the right moment will work wonders."
"Guess you were right."
You admitted.
"Of course I was right." She responded with a smirk on her face.
You should really thank her properly. Maybe some wild fucking session is in order?
You smiled at Ishtar's words and approached Khaj. After changing your weapon into a long pole you poked him. No reaction.
"How long is he going to stay that way?"
"Unsure. But judging from his reactions to destroying just one book I can say we have a few minutes. If he stiffs or starts slightly moving, let me know." She said.
The smoldering remains remained on the floor. You massaged your arms and looked around. About two thirds of the previously filled shelves were now empty. Looks like you provided Carmen enough time to do this during your fight. You only wishes she would tell you about this part of the plan.
"What's next?"
You asked her, and started to look closely at what she was doing.
Carmen had some sort of long needle in her hand that she was inserting in joint between Khaj's armour plates.
She was doing that methodically, repeating it in exactly the same manner every time, her face expression was unchanging.
"What are you doing?" You asked.
"Oh, just making a quick analysis." She responded, not ignoring your question this time, but also not providing you with any kind of information.
After a few more stabs, she pulled back, looking with a blank expression. First one tear, then the next one. She tried to remain her composure, but those pesky eyes releasing clear liquid betrayed her.
You sat on the floor next to her, and put an arm around her, pulling her to a hug. No questions asked, just giving her the presence of someone she could lean on.
"He... That piece of trash... It isn't even a normal person... A fucking shell..."
You held her closer. Tighter. She accepted it. Tears stopped flowing after a moment. You hugged her for a while longer and then let go of her. She looked straight into your eyes.
"He... He... My theory..."
You extended your hand and put a finger on her lips.
"Carmen, take a deep breath. And then explain."
She gave a quick nod, and thenfollowed your advise.
"This thing. Khaj. He is not a real demon. There were roumors, but nobody believed them."
"Then what is he?" You asked, confused.
"Based on observation I can only speculate. But I think he is an item. Or a place. Or even a rodent. Anything that was enchanted into life as this... thing."
You stood up. Khaj was still dormant.
"What do we do with this information? Can we beat him?"
You asked and helped her get up.
"I think... I think whatever enchanted Khaj to life is inside him. The magic source, the spell that binds the will to the armour and this library... David!"
She suddenly raised her voice.
"What?"
"Void magic. You can destroy him. Cancel the spell. If there is no magic in this shell, there won't be any resource to sustain the spell."
You scratched your head.
"About that... I can't really control it. It's more of a passive thing. I mean I did use it previously to break the mind control spell by just spreading my cum inside some girls..."
Carmen looked discombobulated.
"It's should be like casting a spell. Combined effort of will and focus should do the trick."
She tried to help.
You closed your eyes, trying to focus. You saw Ishtar there, behind the veil of your eyelids, but you filtered her out in less than a second. It was surprisingly easy.
The thing that was given to you by a being so outside of the scope of your existence, you can't even begin to comprehend her abilities. The talent that so far came in clutch in a few situations.
Void magic.
It was there, looking like an ivy that grew around your conscience, spreading everywhere, attacking foreign objects. It directly contradicted spells, was their anti equation. If only you could grasp it, if only you could weild it properly like a weapon, instead of blindily swinging it.
You felt it. You saw it. You were extending your hand to it, ready to grab, ready to use it, combining will and focus, like the Chimera said.
"David!"
You heard her scream. And then the world collapsed from under your feet.
What happened?
