The Squeaking of Bats

It's a squeak, you aren't sure what it is exactly until you hear the fluttering of wings accompanying it. As your eyes adjust you can make out the source - a bat hovering not far from you. It's not that big and actually kind of cute looking, or at least it would be if it didn't have an ominous pair of glowing red eyes.

"Alright little fella, let's just leave each other alo-" You don't even get the chance to finish your pointless request as the bat screeches and lunges forward, teeth bared. You can feel it bite into you before you can manage to swat it off, a bloody bite mark left on your forearm. Coming in here was a mistake, you need to leave. And then you hear it again. More squeaks.

You look up and see at least a dozen pairs of red eyes looking down at you from the ceiling and you're not nearly as close to the door as you hoped. You try to make a break for it but a chorus of shrieks accompanies the bats descending towards you in a swarm, tearing at your clothes and into your flesh. You try to knock them off and away but any time you get rid of one bat another is already grabbing on wherever it can, biting into any exposed skin it can find even if it has to tear apart your clothes to get at it. Your strength drains, you try to reach towards the door but you can't make it and collapse. As your consciousness fades all you can feel is the creatures sucking you dry of every drop of blood and it starts to feel...good.

Eventually the bats depart back to the rafters, leaving your corpse on the ground tucked away in a corner of the room. Your clothes are reduced to rags, exposing countless bite wounds...that begin to slowly close. Your fingers twitch as the nails grow, your mouth parts to reveal growing fangs, your eyes open and you feel a thirst...and something else. A need to grow, to spread, to multiply...to infect. A need so strong it threatens to overtake everything...
