The Speech Aftermath!
The speech in English was friendly and cheerful, full of promise and challenges. The applause was genuine. Then, an authoritative but polite voice addressed me:
"Miss, I think you've forgotten something."
I turned around; it was Principal Uzashi. I bowed, blushing with embarrassment.
"Excuse me, Mr. Principal, I don't know how to tie a tie."
Inwardly, I was sorry. I tried. I showed him the tie in my hand.
"I see," he said, calling over a young man who had his back to us. When he turned, I saw the young man from the plane.
"Mr. Grant, wouldn't you be willing to teach this young lady how to tie a tie? Because the next time she doesn't wear it, I'll have to take action."
I blushed furiously and stammered.
"Excuse me, I'm not good with ropes or knots. I didn't do any scouting."
