Chapter 4 by Eismann Eismann

Which way is best?

The Sewers

After some consideration, Bhuzru landed on the sewers as his best option. They were sure to be empty, so the risk of being caught was minimal compared to trying the gate. He moved low, trying his best to remain hidden from the guards on the wall. Before he completely left the swamp, he made sure to cover himself completely in mud to cover his bright scales and managed to reach the sewage pipe unseen. He was faced with metal bars. He placed two hands each on the bars closest to the middle and bent them outward with some effort until he could fit. Then he simply slipped inside, having found his entry into the city.

The sewers stunk, but it was neither a surprise nor the worst smell he had ever experienced so Bhuzru continued unfazed along the walkways on either side of the flow. He was already drawing a mental map of the sewers and soon found a ladder than led up, but not to the surface. This sewer system had layers; the city must be massive.

He continued to explore and map the sewers while he planned. He had to get someone from this time into his hands and talk to them without interruption. Eventually Bhuzru decided it would be best to kidnap someone when it was night again and take them to the sewers. His exploration had shown that there were four layers of sewers, each becoming more expansive and twisted the lower one went. The first and highest layer was relatively simple, and he even had to hide from some patrols which were not found on the deeper levels. The fourth layer, the one he had originally entered, was almost a city of its own, including large parts that had completely dried out.

This was better than he had expected. He waited on the fourth level until he could see the sunlight fade through one of the exit pipes. When it was finally dark, he started ascending the levels, intent on capturing someone to interrogate.

Who does he encounter?
