The Results of Training

John was glad that he had brought the water bottle with him inside his inventory, because he soon needed it and finished what was of it left after about half an hour of running. He looked around to see if there happened to be anywhere nearby he could throw away the now empty plastic bottle. He couldn’t see any trash cans or dumpsters around him, so he decided to just toss it back into his inventory for now and would make sure to properly dispose of it later.

He opened his latest quest to check how much progress he had made and to see how many kilometers he still needed to run. Out of the ten kilometers that he had been required to run, he had so far done 9.9 in total. He only had a tiny bit left to do, just one last 100 meter dash and then he would finally be done. He took a moment to recover his stamina, his increased Endurance really kicking in. He took a deep breath, and began to run as fast as he possibly could in a full sprint.

John was immediately surprised by just how fast he was able to run. He had only been jogging this entire day whenever he ran, and never really tried to see what his actual top speed was until now. It was exhilarating. The environment around him seemed like a blur as the wind itself seemed to carry his feet. He didn’t know exactly how fast he was, but he felt like he could certainly give an Olympian athlete a run for his money. However, as exciting as it was to run at this speed, John quickly found out that he was simply not used to it as he tripped on his own feet and skidded against the asphalt sidewalk.

John groaned with pain as his body slid across the sidewalk. His clothes were torn and the skin underneath was shredded, friction burned, and bloodied. He had stuck his arm out and fallen onto his side, so that’s where most of the damage had occurred. He knew internally that Gamer’s Body would clear the pain as it healed his wounds in a few moments, but that still did nothing for the pain he felt at the moment. He groaned again as he slowly got up, and looked around to see if anyone was around to have seen what just happened. Thankfully, nobody else seemed to currently be in the area, so he felt relieved as Gamer’s Body went to work and a popup appeared in front of him.

John watched as his level went up once again; this was the third time he had leveled up today. If he was completely honest with himself, he had actually somehow completely forgotten that the optional reward for that quest was a free level.

He opened his character sheet and saw that his mana and his mana regen had increased to 280 total and 5.35 per minute respectively. He figured that this must have meant that the new mana formula also tied his level in as a factor. Even if it didn’t, he certainly wouldn’t be the first to complain about the extra amount of mana he now had available.

With that, John began to walk back to Blair’s home. There, he would use her shower, repair and clean his clothes with Craft, and invest into his stats again. It took him nearly an hour, even though he had power walked,    but he pulled out the spare key from his inventory and let himself back in when he arrived. He closed the door behind himself and locked it.

He could hear Blair snoring from inside her room, and tried to be quiet so as to not disturb her as he made his way through the living room. He made sure to take the note he had left earlier off the table, since it didn’t need to be there now that he was back. He couldn’t see an extra door around for a bathroom nearby, so that meant that the door to the bathroom was probably inside Blair’s room. He tiptoed to the entrance to her room, quietly pushed open the door, and went inside.

He saw that the bathroom door was on the other side of her room on the left side and already open. John made his way past Blair’s bed and couldn’t help but take a peek at her sleeping form. She lay on her back, her mouth slightly open as a small line of drool went down her chin. To John, it was extremely cute, and he made himself look away once he realized that watching a girl sleep was actually a bit creepy.

He opened the door to the bathroom, closed the door behind himself, and turned on the lights. He pulled open the shower curtain and turned on the water. As he waited for it to heat up, he unequipped all of his clothes and placed them into his inventory. He took out the water bottle and threw it into the small trash can next to the toilet as well.

John then tested the water’s temperature and then stepped into it.

As he used the shower and cleaned the sweat off his body, John opened his character sheet to see how he would increase his stats this time. He took a bit of time to think about it and noticed that out of all of his stats Charisma was the one that was the lowest at a score of only 11. So, he put two points into it to start things off, which left him with three more points to use. John decided that since he was doing so well stat wise, he might as well do a little test.

He knew that whenever he increased his Wisdom, his mana regeneration would go up. However, when his total mana increased, his mana regeneration did as well. So, he wanted to test how much his mana regeneration would go up if he invested a point into Intellect. He put in one, and watched his mana total increase to 287, and his mana regeneration increased from 5.35 to now 5.42. To compare it to the increase he received from Wisdom, he invested a point into that next. His mana regeneration increased to 5.62 per minute when he did that.

John sighed a little mentally. This was what he had kinda expected, but he was slightly disappointed to not have found an exploit for his mana regeneration. But in any case, he invested his last point into Agility to get it to a solid 20, and that was that.
