The Plan in action

You sat as a man you promised to have sex with put on your son's armour. It pained you to be so stern with your son, but he did pale when Ser Brom explained that the Mountain was riding in the Tournament.

On the sheet of paper your son passed to you, it read that your son was to go last against a peasant boy. You knew that the poor folk were going to enter, some peculiar whim of the King's you had been told, but you looked at the arrangement of matches and for all the haste Ser Brom had instilled in you, Clegane wouldn't be in a position to face your son for quite some time.

You got up from the bench and moved to where your son's horse was ready and waiting for the coming joust. She nuzzled at you endearingly. You smiled, and turned to see Ser Brom fully armoured, appearing as your son to all who might look. You saw enough people about, so you pulled free a strip of cloth and wrapped it around his arm. A mother having her son wear her favour and the family colours. The better to conceal who is really under the armour.

You wished him luck and made your way to where the Nobles were seated to watch the events.

Many of the male Nobles looked at you with lust, you realised, while the Ladies... pity? You'd never noticed before, that look. In the steamy romances you read, the other women always looked at the heroine with jealousy or respect depending on their role in the story.

It dawned on you that... you'd not had any serious requests for companionship since arriving at King's Landing, save for the King saying he'd like to see more of you. No Ladies inviting you to tea and cake. No Lords inquiring as to how you are running your House in the absence of a Husband.

You weren't a clever woman, you had been told so often enough. But even an idiot like you could see you were not seen as a worthwhile companion... save for in matters of flesh. The most interest people have had in you has been while working as a whore, being blackmailed into whoring yourself, and of course inadvertently exposing yourself in public.
