The Pharaoh's Shadow
The rain in Gotham wasn't water; it was an acidic broth that melted the hope of anyone walking the streets at midnight. Atop the Museum of Natural History, Batwoman watched the city through her thermal lenses, feeling the weight of her cowl and the constant tension of a city that never stopped screaming; she had been summoned because it seemed someone was trying to rob the museum.

That was when she saw her.
In the center of the Egyptian wing, beneath the cold light of security floodlights that had been deactivated, stood she. Sphinx.
The villainess was not merely a criminal; she was a spectacle of anachronism. She wore a green silk dress, so tight it seemed fused to her skin, with side slits revealing toned, bronzed thighs. A solid gold pharaonic crown rested upon her dark hair, and Egyptian-style makeup accentuated eyes that gleamed with cruel, malicious intelligence. In her hands, she held the *Eye of Horus*—a relic that, according to legend, allowed one to see the truth behind every mask.

"So punctual, Batwoman. I adore the punctuality of those with nothing better to do than wear leather on freezing nights." Sphinx’s voice was a melodious suggestion, heavy with aristocratic mockery.
Batwoman leapt from the beam, landing in a combat stance, her boots echoing against the marble.
"Hand over the relic, Sphinx. Now."
The villainess let out a soft laugh, sliding her index finger along the contours of the designs. She walked slowly around Batwoman, the sway of her hips beneath the green silk creating a hypnotic rhythm.
"Always so direct. So... *rigid*. I wonder if that rigidity extends to other areas of your life, or if it’s just the armor hiding something more... malleable." Sphinx stopped just centimeters away, the scent of myrrh and incense invading the heroine's personal space. She brought a hand to her chin, feigning contemplation, while her eyes deliberately traveled down Batwoman’s body.
"You know, after touching this artifact—after seeing certain things, certain truths—I’ve been thinking a lot about Michael. Ah, the power... the way he rewrote the rules of the game. He didn't just win; he rendered morality obsolete. It’s fascinating, don’t you think? A man who turns desire into the only law."
She smiled gently—a smile that promised danger and pleasure in equal measure.
"Which brings me to my riddle of the night, little bat. Listen closely: *What guards secrets beneath the linen and seethes with cold blood? Come closer, and see if you can decipher my heat.*"
Batwoman lunged to subdue her, but Sphinx was faster. With a fluid motion, she tossed the *Eye of Horus* into the air; as the heroine instinctively glanced upward, the villainess slid beneath her arm, pressing her lips against Batwoman’s ear.
"The answer, darling... is lust hidden beneath discipline," Sphinx whispered, her warm breath contrasting with the museum's chill. "Michael taught me that rules are merely suggestions for those who lack the courage to truly feel them."
With an acrobatic leap, Sphinx vanished into the shadows of the Egyptian columns, laughing as she disappeared into the darkness, leaving behind only the scent of sandalwood and a folded piece of papyrus on the floor.
Batwoman picked up the paper. Inside, there was no map, but an invitation written in gold ink:
*"Come meet me in Gotham's underworld, where masks fall and desires are commands. Michael is waiting for us... and he hates it when people are late."*
Batwoman unfolded the paper, feeling a strange tingle. She knew it was a trap, but she was going to capture the Sphinx—after all, her brother never seemed to have enough women in his harem.
