The Temple of Desires
The air in Gotham’s underground was thick, heavy with the promise of secrets revealed and the static electricity of a trap about to spring shut. Brianna moved through the shadows with the precision of a predator, guided by the lingering scent of sandalwood that seemed to mock every step of her armored boot.
The vaulted chamber revealed itself in all its Baroque decadence: faux-marble columns, scarlet velvets absorbing the dim light of electronic lanterns, and—right in the center—a leather armchair serving as a throne.
There sat the Sphinx; a green silk dress molded perfectly to her slow movements as she crossed her legs, an enigmatic smile playing on her painted lips.

"I knew you would come, batwoman," the Sphinx murmured, her voice laced with dangerous smoothness as she rose from the throne with the feline grace of someone who dictates the rules of the game. "That is what happens with discipline... it attracts the very thing it tries to forbid."
Brianna stepped forward, her eyes fixed on the villain with a defiant glint. Her jaw was set as she assessed the room, her fists clenched.
"The game is over, Sphinx," Brianna retorted, her steady voice cutting through the hall's silence. "No more riddles. You're coming with me."
The Sphinx let out a melodious laugh, taking a slow step toward the heroine; the rustle of green silk echoed through the empty space.
"Go with you? Or have you finally given in to the curiosity of discovering what lies behind my answers?" The villain stopped just inches away, lifting her chin insolently. "Let's see if all that armor of yours can handle the heat when the rules cease to exist." Alone in the villainess's sanctuary, Brianna must trust her instincts to outwit the Sphinx's brilliant mind before falling completely prey to her psychological games.
The silence following the taunt was broken only by the distant hum of the underground ventilation system. Brianna didn't back down an inch. She knew the Sphinx fed on others' hesitation, turning every second of doubt into an invisible web.
"Curiosity is a luxury prisoners don't have," Brianna retorted, her voice sharp as a blade. Before the villainess could continue her psychological monologue, Brianna moved with the calculated speed of someone who had already anticipated the attack. Instead of charging with brute force—moves the Sphinx would surely anticipate and use to her advantage—the heroine activated the pulse device on her gauntlet.
A high-frequency sonic beam shot from the device, calibrated specifically to interfere with the sensors of the surrounding electronic torches. In the blink of an eye, the Baroque sanctuary plunged into near-total darkness, neutralizing the villainess's visual advantage.
The Sphinx hissed, caught off guard by the tactical audacity, and stepped aside, groping for the green silk in search of cover. But Brianna was no longer where she could be seen. Guided by the lingering scent of sandalwood, the heroine glided silently across the faux-marble floor.
"Riddles work when you dictate the questions," Brianna whispered, suddenly appearing behind the leather armchair, her armored arm locking firmly around the villainess's torso. "But today, you only have one answer." The Sphinx tried to break free, twisting with the agility of a cornered cat, but the pressure of the gauntlet pinned her wrists—exactly where her technological devices were likely stowed.
"Do you think pinning me down will stop what’s already been set in motion, Batwoman?" the villain challenged through gritted teeth, her rapid breathing betraying her frustration.
"I don't need to stop the world," Brianna replied coolly, tightening her grip while signaling the Gotham support team. "I just need to silence you." But the Sphinx had an ace up her sleeve; chanting a spell, she teleported away, leaving the Eye of Horus behind.
