What happened next?
The Party of the Night... though, something seems... off?
I was still a little stunned when I made it too my room. Once I told Chris that I was going to change and shower before I headed out, he nodded and went ahead of me. I guess I could have ducked out then if it wasn't for Amy, but now I was commited. I gathered my new clothes and headed for the Men's showers. There wasnt really anyone there, and desptie the hour. I guess most of the guys had freshened up and either packed it in for the night, or was getting ready to go to this "legendary" party.
I didn't have a clue where it was, but I figured it must've been one of the Greeks, most likely a frat. Contrary to the stereotype, the Greeks (I.E the Frats and Sororities) at my college were no where near as crazy. They only had parties 9n the weekend, typically Fridays or Saturdays, and they didnt have near the same **** problem. They got fucked up, sure, but they weren't snorting coke off of each others tits and cocks or anything like that. As far as the rumors went, the worst they got was people dropping Molly every blue moon, and the supposed secret sex orgies. Those rumors seemed like bull though, and evidence was never provided.
Still, if it was what I expected, it was still not gonna be my scene. It was, by all likelyhood, gonna be a huge pile of drunk adults, handsy and competitive guys, and gossipy girls drooling over the hotest guys in class, which sounds nice since I actually like gossip, but they'll self segregate and make it impossible for me to intergrate myself. Well, impossible to do so without one of them thinking I'm making a pass.
With my body freshly washed and my boy stank surpressed into non-existence, I was ready to dress. After spending a tortuously long 15 minutes deciding the right shirt to go with my jeans and shoes, a simple blue tee with no design, I made my way down to the main hall were Amy and I would meet.
When I got there, the empty hall echoing my footprints, I made for the door. When I saw Amy, I noticed with a slightly randy smile that she was definitely bringing her B- Game. I had a hard time with makeup, but her skin looked smooth and even, and her eyelashes did look a bit longer... I think. Her clothes were easier, as she wore a slightly tight tank top to emphasize her body with skinny jeans and... ugh, heeled shoes.
She saw my scowl at her painted toes ans sighed with exasperation. "Who hurt you Jamie?" She asked sarcastically.
I shrug and look at her, "Eh, what can I say? I don't like heels. Hurt to wear and look... I mean, they're okay but..."
She sighs theatrically, "Yes yes, you're a fan of the casual 'Girl Next Door Tomboy' look."
I wave my arms in defense, "Hey! Its not that I hate the fancy look or anything! Other than heels I like dresses and shit well enough. I just like Summer dresses and casual wear more."
My Best Friend snickered, "Yeah, I get it." She then put her hands to her hip, "But I ain't dressing for you buddy! I'm dressing for me."
I smiled, "Yeah yeah, I know. You look good Ames."
She smiled back, "Thank you. You look good too."
I felt my heart move faster, but kept my cool and smirked, "I know."
She smacked me, "Nerd."
I smacked her playfully back, "Nerdette."
We laughed it off and continued on our way to the dreaded Party.
It was, all things considered, a fairly short walk to the Party. The Greeks couldn't be too far away from the main building, as they attended the same classes as us and a long walk to school seems more like a punishment than a reward. Still, they were far enough away that when they played their music you couldnt hear it in the dorms, so thats nice.
The building belonged to some frat, the name escapes me, and the beat was nice enough. I nodded to Amy as we crossed the threshold into the world of inhibitions lost.
It was about what I expected honestly. These parties always have a theme that the Greeks alone knew ahead of time. It was a way to keep themselves cooler than the pleebs that were us. I was fine with it, they hosted the event so it makes sense that they get the homefield advantage. This party, it seemes at the time, was sugar pop. Aqua played, the Frat boys were dressed in colorful shorts and only a few bothered with shirts in another garish color. The Sorority sisters dressed in their own bright colors, but they also had dyed hair and wigs in bright florescent colors, blue seemingly popular amongst the group so I fit in better than most.
As I turned around Amy had already snuck into thr drinks table and brought us each something. I was about to refuse the alchohol when I heard the tell tale fiz. Both her drink and mine were clearly some sort of soda. I smiled, safe in the knowledge that she wouldnt **** me and chugged my drink.
I spoke over the music, "Thanks Amy!"
She just smiled back.
Milling around us was the hustle and bustle of college kids. Just as I predicted the guys and girls had seperated themselves and stook with their own.
Me and Amy sort of just... idled awhile. She dragged me to the Girls section for a while to say hi to her friends. I made the proper small talk when Ames pointed to me, but for the most part I stayed quiet and focused on her energetic speech and laugh.
We said our byes, and we gathered two more tall glasses of soda. That's when I noticed something odd.
"Amy?"
"Yeah?" She said around her orange drink.
"I was just curious. I usually see the beer around the snacks, and I don't feel like Im getting drunk so nobody spiked the soda."
She snorted, "Spiked the drinks? What are we, 40?"
I shook my head at that, ingoring her odd reponse.
"Is there no beer here?"
She looked a little concerned, but humored me, "Duh. Nobody our age likes that shit, so why would we serve it? I-I mean ," she looks a bit embarrassed, "I mean if you want to you can-"
"Nope!" I interrupted her, "No no, I was just... curious. I thought big parties like this tended to," be places that people got shitfaced, "might have some."
She smiles relivedly, "Yeah, maybe back in our parent's day. You've been watching too much T.V. Jamie."
I laughed nervously, sure as sure that Amy herself came back drunk from one of these parties once, "Yeah, guess I must've."
For a bit longer, I thought it over.
Either A) This was the party theme and I wasn't privy to it, and still doesn't explain why she's acting like I was crazy to think of it; or B) I was in the middle of a dream.
I smiled, 'Of course its a dream. There's no way in hell that a bunch of frat boys wouldn't get wasted unless that's the case.' I thought to myself.
I smiled, feeling braver with that "knowledge".
I hold out my hand and point to an empty space between the sexes, "Want to dance?"
She laughed and look delighted, "Really? I'm game."
I still really dont know why I asked her to dance even if this was a dream, as I never found it to be much fun. Maybe it was the way she looked, the air of the party, or what, but I really wanted to dance with my Best Friend at that moment.
It was that decision that led to the biggest event of that night for me.
I'm still not sure if I regret it or not, all things considered.
What happened Jamie?

Normality
Don't mind the fucking, nothing to see here
Once upon a time, on a bet and while very very drunk, a higher power of some kind made a very special item.
