The Necropolis

One would not think when they visit the trading village that the Anubi converge in that they were once the most prolific and powerful forces in all of the Phantom Desert. It was believed that their species were the chosen race of a powerful god, having been created in his image, and that this was why they were such a prospering land. But, as all civilizations before and after, the Anubi's hold of power fell by a mix of countless factors, including invading forces, dwindling resources, political sabatog, time, hubris and too many things to mention. The tipping point behind the end of the civilization is lost to history, but the only remnants of this mighty civilization are the now roaming Anubi, and the ruins of the final capital, the Necropolis.

On the surface, the Necropolis is a sacred place. The infrastructure is crumbling, with the bones of hundreds of men, women and children of many species litter the grounds undisturbed. To enter the Necropolis and disturb the mass grave, or even to take any treasure that may lie around, was believed to ignite a curse on one's own house and family. Because of such beliefs, many tribes and townships have made it a crime to venture into the Necropolis. However, this made the Necropolis the perfect hiding place for the slum and darker corners of the Ozymandaic Tribes.

Hidden in a cavern only accessible at the heart of the crumbling city lies an all-too living township haphazardly constructed. Thieves, robbers, bandits, outcasts, renegades, carnies, backstabbers, murderers, mercenaries, slavers, black-marketeers. Any horrible, sinful, illegal **** and those who cater to them can be found in this underground ditch. Virtually every species that dwells in the Phantom Desert (and even some beyond) is represented here.
