There are a hundred different kinds of vampires that subsist on human blood, though Hollywood tends to lump them together as 'vampires'.

The Romanian Strigoi are the reanimated corpses of men and women who committed unforgivable sins in life. They have the power to transform into an animal, become invisible, and grow stronger from the blood of their victims.

The Indian Vetala are evil spirits who dwell at charnel grounds, and have the power to take possession of recently deceased corpses. They don't 'need' to drink blood but they still hunt humans because it amuses them. Killing them is tricky, as they can jump from one corpse to another.

The Filipino Aswang can disguise itself in the shape of a beautiful woman, infiltrate human society, and slowly wipe out entire villages night by night. Some of them can also acquire a taste for human internal organs instead of only blood.

"We are nowhere near a graveyard, so it's unlikely to be a Vetala." I needed to know what I was hunting before I made my next move. "The Aswang usually live in forests, but they can also move to human cities if ****. However, none of the victims had their internal organs eaten, so an Aswang wouldn't be my first suspect. A Strigoi makes the most sense but-"
