The Morning

The alarm goes off and my right hand instinctively reaches out and slaps the snooze button. Caroline though rolls over and rises above me to see the time “Oh shit Carly you have to get up, you have a meeting with Thereaux in an hour, then school!”

My fogged mind wonders what meeting and what school then clears when Caroline reminds me. “And I’m sure you want to be where Mike can see you before he finds someone else to drool over!” MIKE! Oh god those photos, Humdinger High, my latest assignment to all came crashing back to me!

“Fuck why couldn’t I look my age!” Swinging my legs off the bed, getting up to shower. As I pass Caroline “Wonder if Bobbi could take over for me?” A pillow to my butt told me her answer to the query

Twenty minutes later I’m standing in front of Thereaux, deep in embarrassment, trying not to make eye contact with him or Captain Cartier. “Now I know we said to blend in so your cover isn’t blown but we didn’t mean to revert back to a high school mentality, though I have to say I hope my granddaughter doesn’t act like that in her school!”

“I’m sorry sir I never planned to send those to all my contacts!” Thereaux sitting there with a grim splattered across his face As I went into my report to date. Both look at me like they didn’t know if I was wasting time or really going deep undercover for this investigation. By the time I satisfied their questions I had a whopping fifteen minutes to report for homeroom or risk detention.

“Relax Carly I’ll drive you to school!” Oh like I wanted to be seen around school with a cop at my side! Still it was either accept his ride or be late. The drive was done in silence, since I threatened to give Caroline, Thereaux’s address. As we pulled up to the front there were the usual cliques hanging outside. As I got out I felt all eyes were on me and my ride, especially a girl by the front door. As i grew abreast of her she moved to open the door for me

“Say aren’t you Carly Rae Graspper, we’re in the same homeroom!” We both passed through the door before she continued “I’m Sarah Michaels, I believe we also are in the same gym class and biology!” Biology was the first class after homeroom this morning so at least I would know one person in the class,

“Oh god please it’s just Carly!’ I would have said more but an announcement came over the P.A. system

“Homeroom will be delayed for fifteen minutes this morning due to a teacher meeting”

Great time to check myself in the bathroom mirror before having to start the day. Making a beeline for the bathroom door I didn’t notice that this Sarah person was still with me. As I entered I tossed my clutch onto the counter, where as per my luck lately it exploded open spilling two things which I preferred no one knew I had- my gun and my badge.

My gun stayed on the counter while my badge dropped to the floor. I dove for the gun first, getting back into the secret compartment before trying to get my badge. As I looked, Sarah was coming up with my badge in her hand

“Carly are you a cop or something?”
