The Maginet
The Maginet is the internet but with magic. It is programmed by magic, and as such, can be modified by magic.
Programs can be imbued with magical effects. This functions similarly to potions and runes, in that it only costs 1xp to learn a new form of any spell, including a program. There are a few kinds of spell programs, augmentative programs, such as Whisper, which affect how the program behaves to other programs, applications, such as Illusory Object, which allow the program to have additional capabilities controlled by the user, and most dangerous, viruses, which is what mages call any program that directly affects the user. Below are a list of some basic programs, and spells which have special functions as programs, or are commonly used.
Before any spell programs can be learned, the programmer must learn the appropriate simple programming spell, (basic programming, intermediate programming, advanced programming. Creating a program generally takes about an hour.
Most spell programs have a +1 to their difficulty, but no bonus needed. However, spells that affect physical things instead have +3 to difficulty and +1 to bonus.
Basic Programs
Basic Programming (8, 0): Allows the creation of simple programs, such as small games, or a password cracker which takes an hour to run, and can only be used at someone's computer. A requirement for all other basic programs.
Whisper (+1, 0): Modifies a program to not leave any traces where you don't want it to. Commonly used on chat programs, or to send information without alerting anyone. Allows users to erase their browser history. Can also prevent a program from showing up on searches.
Suggestion (10, 0): A common virus, can be used with visuals or sound.
Grope (10, 0): An application that allows the user to feel things in the virtual world. Live chats can even be used for long distance uses of the normal spell.
Intermediate Programs
Intermediate Programming (10, 0): Allows the creation of more complected programs, such as large 3d videogames, or a password cracker that only takes a minute to run. Having someone's password allows you to access their computer remotely. A requirement for all other intermediate programs.
Cupid's Arrow (15, 0): A virus sometimes used in dating services that boast 100% success rate.
Arouse (10, 0): A virus sometimes added to porn sites. It is not uncommon for them to not hide this fact, even listing it as a feature.
Invisibility (+2, 0): Allows a program to run completely unseen. Allows you to bypass the school's firewall to send viruses online.
Far Sight (8, 0): An app that allows you to activate the user's webcam automatically. With invisibility there is no indication of this.
Clairvoyance (11, 0): An app that allows the webcam to "see" the entire room at once.
Advanced Programs
Advanced Programming (12, 0): Allow the creation of impossibly complex programs, such as perfect AI, perfect simulations, and password crackers that run instantly, and can be run remotely. Can access large number of computers at once, and remotely download programs on all of them. A requirement for all advanced programs.
Detect Lie (11, 0): Can be used for a simple lie detector, or a chat program that makes lies show up red.
Truth (12, 0): Forces person to type a truthful response.
Read Thought (13, 0): Can type out a person's thoughts on screen, or save them for later use. With Illusory Time, proper mind reading with images and video.
Dreamwalk (14, 0): Can record dreams, or program a dream in advance and induce it in the user.
Dimension Gate (14, 0): Allows people to enter the virtual world.
