The Long Story

Note: This entire chapter is a flashback

Gabby was sitting in her room while her boyfriend was over, texting on her phone.

"Who are you texting?" he asked.

"My best friend" she said. She didn't see it, but he rolled his eyes.

"You mean that guy from your old home? I don't get why you still talk to him" he said. She barely even registered this.

"His parents just got divorced, and it was really messy. He just needs a friend" she said before she put her phone down and got up.

"I'm going to use the bathroom" she said. Once the door was closed, he grabbed her phone and began typing.

"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU" she yelled at him while tears were welling up in her eyes.

"You spend all your time texting him instead of hanging out with me" he said as he crossed his arms.

"HE'S MY BEST FRIEND! NOW HE THINKS I HATE HIM!" she yelled. Her phone screen still held all the awful things he texted Mike.

"I didn't realize you'd be such a bitch about this" he said before she slapped him.

"GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY ROOM!"

Gabby sat on the floor in front of her parents, tears streaming down her face.

"That's why I have to see him. He's not responding to me, I'm so scared. I'm so scared he's going to hurt himself. I've been the only thing keeping him going, I don't know what he'd do if he thought he lost me. Please, I have to see him" she begged them as she could barely keep it together. Her father knelt down and hugged her.

"Of course sweetheart"

Gabby was suddenly extremely nervous as she stood in front of Mike's front door. But with one big breath, she knocked on it.

When she saw Mike open the door, she didn't hesitate for a second to jump into his arms.

"Y-you're here" he said in shock as she began to cry yet again.

"I'm so sorry. I'm so so sorry. My boyfriend, he took my phone and said all those horrible things to you. I'm so sorry. I'll never abandon you, I'll never abandon you" she said as she sobbed. Not just tears of sadness, but tears of relief that he was still here.

It was at this moment that Gabby realized she was in love with Mike.

The two of them were sitting on a bench in a park.

"It's been really nice to see you" he said.

"Yeah, it has been. I miss you everyday" she said as she cupped his cheek.

"Me too" he said as he wrapped an arm around her neck. The two looked into each others eyes, before closing the gap. The kiss was long and sweet, something they both would saver for the rest of their lives.
