The Knights(20 knight branch)

Knight-Commander Catherine Second in Command

Formerly a Sister-Knight of the Knights of White Catherine was born to a minor house in the Kingdom of Varis. As the sixth child, she chose to become a squire finding acceptance and a master to teach her. She quickly became known for devotion to the faithful, and her cure of the Galian Plague made her a local hero in the city of Larue. She is slow to anger and quick to forgive but to confuse that for naivety is a mistake many have made. Often to their peril.

Lieutenants

Illya Thorn:

A former Noviate-Knight of the Thorns Illya was born a bastard after her courtesan mother forgot protection entertaining a noble party. With no name to call her own she was accepted as a Squire for the Thorns through the patronage of a priestess. Only recently knighted she volunteered for the new order seeking a challenge and opportunities away from the set rituals and pleasantries of her old order.

Bella Julai

The third daughter of the Julai family. An off-shoot of an off-shoot of the imperial line of the Julian empire. She began training for knighthood early and after passing the test was admitted as a squire. She sees in the new order a chance for glory and prestige that none of her friends back home could compete with.

Jacob Edwardson

Jacob expected to follow his father Edward into the family business as a carpenter. That changed when he caught the eye of a priestess managing the squire testing for the Order of Darkness. He wanted to show off and by the time he realized what he was doing he was in too deep and a knight had selected him as their squire. His surprised father was of course proud of his firstborn but wished his son had discussed his ambitions with him. Fortunately, his younger brother was far more interested in woodworking. A bad break-up with the priestess inspired him to volunteer for the new order.

Catherine's Team

Arielle Stoneheart

Arielle was born as the daughter of bakers. She caught the eye of a local nobleman who proclaimed that he would make her his wife. She didn't care for that idea and made the excuse she was trying to become a knight to get away. She was accepted as a squire by the Knights of White and while in training fell in love with a stonemason's apprentice. Marrying him as soon as she became a full knight and he became a full mason. Pregnant with her first child soon after she assigned as a Hospice-Knight serving close to home. She was caught in a trap of honor by the nobleman she scorned resulting in her second child but had the last laugh when she refused to let him have anything to do with the child who he'd wanted as his heir and joined the Order of Horizon to become unreachable to him.

Squire: Ellie

Margaret Aviary

Margaret's family were bird keepers for the church, administering and taking care of the Divine Pigeons used for rapid communication. Her curiosity about the content of the messages led to her becoming interested in the Thorns and she was accepted as a squire. She joined the Order of Horizon to get away from her boring posting.

Squire: Able

Laurelai Avanland

As a child of the prestigious High House Avanland Laurelai was born to a life of luxury and plenty. She took up weapons training as a hobby and to keep up with her favorite brother who was training for the knighthood. When he was killed saving the life of a prince her training took on a new meaning and there was no question of her acceptance into the Julians. She joined the Order of Horizon as he'd always talked about wanting to go to the frontier and help the people there.

Squire: Denise

Cameron Tollman

Cameron was born to a toll family on the Gileyan Highroad, he first became interested in blessed knights when he learned they didn't have to pay road tolls but sometimes did anyway. From such a humble start he saved all of his pay from his apprenticeship to make a trip to where the nearest squire trials were held. To the surprise of his entire family he was actually accepted by a knight who was amused by the story. He joined the Order of Horizon hoping for more responsibility.

Squire: Franklin

Illya's team

Maya Chari

Maya was born to a poor rural farm family. When the crop failed one year she ran away from home to prevent her family from having an extra mouth to feed. She made her way to one of the major cities where she quickly fell in with a gang. She made a very serious error in judgment by trying to rob a knight. Instead of turning her in to the city watch, she found herself dragged to the Squire trials. Then formally accepted into the Order of Darkness. She joined the new order to get even more distance from her past.

Squire: Jenny

Harper Valen

Harper is the third generation of her family to become a Knight of the White, however, following in her mother's footsteps left her in her mother's shadow. When a new order was founded she finally saw a chance to make her own way. To be judged by her own merit.

Squire: Olivia

Havel Dragonmoor

Havel is the third child of Duchess Dragonmoor one of the low houses in the Julian Empire. He was expected to join the Non-Blessed Order of the Dragon as per family tradition but fate had a different plan for him. He impressed a Julian knight enough to overcome his comparatively 'low' status and be accepted as their squire. He joined the Order of Horizon to make his mark on history.

Squire: Luke

Tamia Baker

Tamia was the result of a tryst between her mother and a knight who 'put a bun in her oven' as the baker liked to say. Once her father learned of her existence he began to stop by as his duties allowed. He encouraged her to take the knight trials when she showed an interest. She passed and was accepted. She joined the Order of Horizon for the adventure.

Squire: Kali

Jacob's team

Isabel Varlant

Isabel was born to a minor noble house in the domain of the Thorns. With little but her name to show for her status she trained for knighthood and was accepted into the Order. Her first mission as a full knight went awry. She was sent to lead a band of non-blessed troops to clear out a savage Drider den. When she arrived she found that they weren't at all savage and were friendly with the locals. As the Driders weren't officially civilized Isabel was technically obligated to carry out the attack. Before she did so she sent a pair of messengers out. One to the church and one to her order. The attack was a total disaster with the entire **** being captured. Curiously her order didn't send anyone to rescue her and she wasn't freed until a month later when a priest arrived in response to the Drider's petition to be recognized as a Civilized enclave which was granted. Isabel joined the order of Horizon to get away from those who only knew the story and not the context.

Squire: Mariana

Taylor

Taylor was born to clothes makers in the Domain of the Knights of White. Her parents often struggled due to a rival clothier who did everything in her power to discredit and put them down in public. When the rivals son went for squire trials Taylor impulsively went as well. Unlike him however she was actually selected. This marked a distinct turn for her family. Taylor's master wasn't very pleased with the way she was advertising her parent's shop on duty but they understood and allowed it on one condition. When she became a knight she'd go to the edges of civilized lands to heal and tend the Devoted there.

She saw the Order of Horizon as a way to fulfill that oath and then some.

Squire: Melany

Yadira Plains

Yadira was a church orphan with a lust for adventure. Growing up it was clear the knighthood was the path she wanted. She endeared herself to the local Darkness garrison and was selected when it came time for squire trials. As a knight she volunteered for the Badlands where she lived among the civilized Ala'Kai orc tribe. After the events of The Humbling however she decided to look elsewhere for her adventures and joined the Order of Horizon.

Squire: Deja

Angelique Rawthorne

Born to Wall House Rawthorne on the Julian Empire's western border Angelique's family had grown rich on the tolls of the Gilayan Highroad. This led to jealousy of some of the higher houses that culminated in an accusation of treason against the Empire. The intervention of the church was the only thing that saved them and as part of the settlement Angelique was accepted into the Julian Order. With no intention to give her families enemies another chance at her she joined the Order of Horizon.

Squire: None

Bella's team

Craig Allander

Craig was a soldiers son and expected to become a soldier himself when he was of age. That all changed when his father's life was saved by a Knight of White. That knight after speaking with him agreed to accept him as a squire. With a sponsor the squire trials were a formality and he became a full knight in his time. He joined the order as he felt the frontier was where his gifts would do the most good.

Squire: Annie

Jonas Tevine

Jonas was the son of a court diplomat for the Kingdom of Valray. He was expected to follow in his father's shoes but when on a diplomatic mission to one of the civilized orc tribes he ran into a Thorn delegation. Due to his local knowledge he managed to stave off a horrible misunderstanding and in doing so impressed the Thorns as well as a particularly grateful orc girl. One of the Thorns offered to be his master and the rest is history. He joined the Order of the Horizon due to his father's encouragement to see the world.

Squire: Alfred

Violet Bagain

Violet was left orphaned far too young, unable to properly tend to her family farm she found she was good at growing flowers. At first people bought out of pity but she soon gained a reputation enough that she managed to run a small flower stall in the nearby city. On one particular day however a nobleman came to buy flowers for a merchant's daughter he was trying to woo. When the flowers failed to win her over he said something unkind and in retort she told him she could become a knight easier than he could find a wife. He took it personally and offered to sponsor her attempt. To both their surprise she was selected by the Order of Darkness as a squire. She loves to tell their daughter that story.

She joined the Order of the Horizon to see new flowers and new opportunities for both her and her husband

Squire: Diana

Katia Bell

Katia was the daughter of a pair of fairly well off merchants. She worked their shop from a young age and loved to buy any writing she could about knights. Things took a bit of a turn when she got older and started to learn about certain stories only sold in hidden places. Stories about what could happen to female knights in the line of duty. Her parents weren't surprised at all when she went to the squire trials but they were absolutely shocked when she was actually picked. A Knight of White having loved her passion. Her years as a squire tempered her fantasies a bit but the second a position in a new order opened up promising to be dangerous and on the frontier she volunteered immediately.

Her official reason was because she wanted to help the poor souls on the frontier with her healing and its not entirely untrue but the danger of getting in over her head calls to her a bit.

Squire: Julia
