Chapter 3 by SlitheringBaconChild SlitheringBaconChild

Where are you from?

The Imaman of Ata

The Imaman of Ata holds to the belief that the sins of humanity are too numerous and unforgivable to be repented for. The act of seeking repentance is the only path towards a possible redemption. If the world could repent together, then Ata-Meam, The Creator, would return to Their throne and all could be well again. This culture of repentance defines Ata entirely. Every caste spends their lives living in penitence, from the lowest profession to the highest noble-born, the act of which is different for each profession. Children are taught from infancy that they are sinful and deserve only Oblivion for the crimes of the species they were born into. Some are pushed to experiment to find their Repentant Calling, but most will be born into a profession and later die in it. They will follow a particular Repentant Path as their career until they die.

The warrior caste of Ata is made up of fanatics. In their fanaticism they see their bloodletting and **** in service of their part in earning humanity's forgiveness. The Atans boast to have the cure for the sin of non-divine sorcery, and from some reports it is impossible to truly kill one of the Unmade Purifiers.

The land of Ata is largely savanna along long rivers, surrounding massive deserts of seemingly endless dunes. Travel is difficult, and monsters are known to wander the roads seeking easy prey. The Iron-Masks, the lowest level of the Atan military, are often seen on the roads to ensure safe passage for merchants and nobles, stationed at waystations along the path.
