The Guild: Page 1

Tius Domrow's POV

I scanned the group of applicants. Maybe 20 or so, all seated in the waiting room. A wide variety in every sense. People from every race, species, gender and age. The Guild may be fucked up, but at least it doesn't discriminate when choosing its canon fodder.

"What are they thinking?"

I looked to my left, seeing my second in command, Sarah, sipping her coffee. I turned back to the 1 way mirror, reading the auras of the applicants.

"Mostly nervous, one guy thinks his boyfriend is cheating on him, that one really has to pee, and that one-"

I pointed at a pale kid with black hair and a tattoo on his neck.

"-is being shielded. Something is obscuring his aura."

"A spy?"

I shook my head.

"I doubt it. He has no reason to believe anyone would be reading his mind."

She took a long sip of her coffee, eyes narrowed as she looked through the glass.

"What's his name then?"

"He signed in as Lucas Valentine."

She cocked her head to the side.

"He's not related to Magus Valentine, is he?"

"Yup, the girl next to him Victoria Valentine."

Sarah did a double take, and nearly spat coffee onto the glass .

"Holy shit you're right. We have to get them!"

I shook my head.

"Just one. I'm not dealing with siblings again. Remember the twins?"

"Haha, yeah. You're right."

"Mackie and Lucian are both looking for strikers. Those conniving bastards will fight tooth and nail for them. This won't be easy."

"Well, they don't have your advantage."

She tapped her temple.

"That is true. Still, we have to play smart. We figure out which one is stronger, and let Anne take the other one."

"So what do we do?"

I smiled.

"We divide and conquer. I'll handle the applicants, you keep Mackie and Lucian away from the testing rooms."

"Have fun with that, Dom."

"I always do."

I turned on my heel, making my way to the waiting room. I put on a pleasant smile, though with my other traits, I doubt it accomplished much.

"Hello applicants. If you'd follow me, we can begin the evaluation process."

I turned around, not waiting for them to follow.
