What caused the flash?
The Gardner Fleet Arrive
Appearing out of a somehow plaid colored flash, was an absolutely massive ship. Though calling it just a ship was an understatement, the ship was about 500 meters long and two hundred meters tall, it would dwarf the Galaxy-class Enterprise-D. At a glance it looked like a slightly flattened version of a Battleship Yamato with a large dome added in front. Large cannons were mounted on the sides and there was a circular hole in the center of the bow revealing a massive spinal cannon. Phaser banks and torpedo launchers were scattered about the sides and top of the ship. The ship’s intimidating aura was offset by the orange and yellow paint and the chibi paintings of your dad’s harem along the hull. The IGS Sweet Flower has arrived.
Seconds later, five other ships with more cartoony and simplistic looks appeared in the IGS Sweet Flower’s wake. Two looked like oversized bath toys versions of tug boats with few features other than the engine and two guns on the side. Two others were human style ships from Mass Effect and Babylon 5 respectively. And the last one was a heavily modified Mon Calamari cruiser.
You were fairly certain that you recognized the Mon Calamari cruiser as the company ship that your eldest sister Jane used on semi-official business. You don’t really recognize the other ships beyond the make and models but you figure they were either IG ships or ones your moms or siblings got at some point.
“Kirlia kirl!” Pixel entered the cockpit and quickly ran up to the window, climbing over Sabine’s lap.
“Hey!” Pixel ignored Sabine’s complaint and just pointed out the window.
“Kirlia!”
“Yep, the calvary is here. Good job,” you smile as the fleet spreads out in a circular pattern. Kirlia grins happily and teleports onto your shoulders.. Hera pilots the ship around so that the battle was more in our view.
The Borg Cube appeared to have noticed the Gardner Fleet and started moving away from the battle at a slow speed. The IGS Sweet Flower starts pounding the Borg Cube with its main cannon, targeting specific areas of the Cube though you couldn’t initially tell if it was effective. The assorted ships that had been slowly whittling away the Cube’s defenses in defense of Risa, regrouped and rallied. The Cube was starting to find it harder to attack weak spots in their shields as the more armored ships were freed to protect the others.
The two tug boat looking ships broke off from the formation and approached two sets of disabled or destroyed ships. From the way they moved through the debris, it looked like they were looking for survivors or bodies; the medical technology and magic at your family’s disposal was quite advanced and might be able to heal beyond StarFleet’s ability. They weren’t totally ignoring the battle as they would occasionally fire their guns to intercept stray torpedoes and shield damaged ships.
The remaining three ships of the Gardner fleet focused their fire on the Cube’s defenses, destroying row after row of weapon banks. Blue, green, and red beams streaked through space annihilating matter on impact and carving large scars in the Cube’s surface. The Cube’s fire rate slowed down as critical systems were destroyed.
“Hey is something happening out there? Someone’s sending out a broadband message saying to cease fire and back up to a safe distance,” Kyoka relayed this message from Mariner.
“Other than my family kicking ass, nothing much.” But you had spoken too soon as the Borg Cube got hit with a strange blue and white torpedo from the IGS Sweet Flower. All of the Cube’s weapon fire ended and the hostile ship appeared to stop in space (or at least stop taking evasive maneuvers). The cube’s nauseating green lights shifted to a more pleasant bluish green.
“I think my folks just liberated the cube,” you announced, seeing the readout indicating that the Cube’s weapons and shields were powering down.
“And what does that mean?”
“They’re probably friendly now. Probably,” you explain while hoping that with the Cube now liberated, the drones on Risa were now either in disarray or free.
“We’ve got incoming,” Hera announced. You looked back towards the window quickly but relaxed on seeing the tractor ship navigate to the top of the Winged Heart.
“It's cool, they are with my dad,” you assured them. The tractor ship looked sort’ve like the Batwing from the Arkham games except on a larger scale and more futuristic. The tractor ship activated its beam and guided the Winged Heart to the IGS Sweet Flower without delay.
