The Forest Path

Take takes a moment to examine the pond. It's about waist deep and clear. The water is cool to the touch and a quick test finds it safe to drink and tasty. Take leaves the pond alone, glances at the lone flower, still just a closed bud and then heads down the path.

The path is dim, narrow and claustrophobic, but Take seems perfectly fine with it. She walks down the path stopping as she arrives at a fork. The main path continues, but there's a slight side path. A glowing lantern hangs on a branch beside the somehow even narrower side path.

"I wonder what that means? A warning maybe?" Take asks looking at the lantern. It's light doing little to actually illuminate the dim path, only adding more definition to the darkness and appearing almost as a simple ghostly light in the darkness.

From down the main path there are voices, light and airy, indiscernible as they seem to echo and distort as they reach Take and Malphiel.
