The First Slip

"Shove it, Briar," I said. I was so sick of her shit. I thought of writing something demeaning on the slip. Something like: Briar, demoted to, company cocksucker, because she deserves it. But then I caught myself. That would be childish.

I didn't want to be as nasty as her. I wanted a better job, where I wouldn't have to deal with her miserable ass. So instead I lazily scribbled something else while I nibbled on the last of my lunch.

"I, am promoted to, Chief Sex Officer, because I deserve it." As I stared down at my casual scrawl I realised - it was still pretty childish. But it made me laugh.

"Someone's happy..." mumbled Briar. "I still can't believe you got promoted to CSO."

I knitted my brows and stared at her. She kept going.

"Such a big salary just so you can fuck whoever you want on staff. Maybe people think you deserve it but who knows how long that'll last. Especially for someone like you," she smirked.

Had she seen me writing? She sounded so serious. But if she'd really seen me write that, she wouldn't have played along. Knowing Briar, she would have given me hell for weeks.

I couldn't just assume that reality had suddenly broken down. I needed to try something else. Eventually, Briar got up and walked to the side bar to make herself some coffee. This was my chance. No way she could see me writing something from that distance, and with her back turned.

"Briar is demoted to toilet cleaner because of her bad work ethic and unpleasant behaviour."

I quickly tore that one off and stuffed it in my pocket. Briar came back with her coffee and sat down, looking even grumpier than usual.

"Those assholes put me on cleaning duty! In the bathrooms! Just because I ask other people for help with my work. A pretty girl like me shouldn't have to do any work. If I can blink my eyelashes and get some old fogey to do it for me, what's the problem?"
