And what is the last thing Kaylen needs to round out his party?
The Final Pick, a Healer - 2B-EW
Chapter 2 – Putting the Team Together (continued)
Almost immediately after making his choice, Kaylen’s eye was drawn to where his chosen candidates sat with his sister, and he realized, somehow, there was one thing they all had in common so far. They were all women. That hadn’t been intentional, and he resolved that he’d try to choose at least one male for his final position, just for the sake of fairness.
“Who do you need next?” Tyrell asked, drawing his attention back to the guild master. “Got any other roles you need filled, or are you good with a five man team?”
“One more.” Kaylen replied. “I want a support unit or healer. I have some healing magic myself, but I have a lot of other capabilities that would be wasted if I’m **** to focus on healing.”
“A good unit to have.” Master Norrison agreed, “And certainly one that will round out your existing roster. Unfortunately dedicated healers are just as rare as dedicated combat mages.”
Kaylen nodded, “I know. But someone who can provide logistical support during battle and medical expertise in between should work just fine. Ideally, they should be able to fight from a distance, so that they don’t get stuck in melee when they might be needed elsewhere, though that isn’t a strict requirement.”
Now that Kaylen had identified what he was looking for in the final candidate, most of those waiting started to disperse. But there were enough left that Tyrell had to call for a check to determine if there were any healers among them. “We’ll have to go to where the candidates might be found then, since they haven’t come to us.” He told Kaylen. “You can ask your team if they’d like to accompany us, or meet up with you later.”
“Certainly.” Kaylen approached where his sister sat, still chatting with the other newly recruited members of his team. “Master Norrison and I are going to find a healer to fill out the final position on the team. Would you four like to accompany me, or meet up somewhere else at a later time?”
Lyria consulted the others, but there seemed to be some amount of visible tension between the elf and half-elf adventurers he had chosen. As the leader, it was in his interest to intercept any conflict that might arise among his teammates before it had a chance to take root, so he put on his most authoritative voice and asked, “Is there going to be an issue between you two?”
They two in question looked momentarily startled, glancing from Kaylen to each other before the Talindra replied, “No issue.”
“We’ll be fine.” The half-elf agreed, looking contrite.
Some amount of additional discussion followed before Lyria turned back to Kaylen and said, “We’ll meet up with you later, I’m sure we all have equipment to grab before we head out. Did you have some place in mind to meet?”
“The market district would be a good place to start. I imagine we’ll need some supplies, even if we all have our own gear. I’ll find us a contract before meeting you there, to save on time.”
“Sounds good to me.” Lyria nodded, and the others concurred.
Where will Kaylen go to find his healer?

Lonely is the Mage without Love
Can a mage overcome prejudice to find love among their party?
When magic is mistrusted, and those who use it are rightly feared, most mages resign themselves to a lonely existence. But what happens when one mage chooses a different path? When a mage defies this solitary fate and recruits a party of potential romantic partners? Will this lead to love or is it an endeavor doomed to fail?
