The Feud

This had led to a somewhat one-sided feud between you and your neighbour. Where she tried everything to make you move, divorce (she didn't see your marriage as real because it wasn't with a human) or simply make your lives a living hell. You on the other hand did everything to deflect, ignore and (where necessary) maliciously comply with the bullshit she kept coming up with. Sure you could move and have a nice life but that would make her feel like she was right and justify her racist and species and religious extreamest views.

She tried to get you banned from church, you responded that god's message was one of love and tolerance. She tried to get your pool filled in, claiming you didn't have planning permission, which you did. She then tried to claim that having a saltwater pool was dangerous to the environment and not sanitary. We responded with studies showing how salt was naturally antimicrobial, that is was more natural and safe than using chlorine or other man-made materials. She complained to the homeowner's association that Cas showing off her mermaid tail in our pool was a lude act and caused her kids to ask questions that were not age appropriate. We, therefore, put up a privacy screen that allowed us to swim naked and even have sex in our pool when Patric was staying with the grandparents. She claimed that in the summer, kids were using our pool for free, taking business away from local gyms and public pools. So we started charging for admission and made some decent money. She claimed that when Cas had some of her friends around, including two other mermaids and a centaur, that she was conspiring against the humans of the neighbourhood. She showed them the banner they had made for an interspecies meet-up that supported positive relationships between all species. This really pissed off Eden. She tried to inform the church about this meet-up. This backfired as the church offered to host it and provide snacks.

It was the night after this meeting where the story starts.
