The Drive Home

"I know I seemed like a bit of a bitch to Mary Jo back there," Sasha said as she drove away from the farmstead, "But let's just say me and her have a bit of a rocky history. She dated my brother for a while and while she was with him, she tried to get with me too, and don't get me wrong, I would have totally dated her, but not behind Kiran's back. My brother never found out and he and Mary Jo ended up breaking things off a few months later for some reason, but I've never really forgiven her for trying to betray him, and with me of all people." Sasha shook her head in disbelief.

Wow, lots of drama in this community. Lexi thought to herself as the car pulled into a gas station.

"Gotta fill up mom's car real quick. Stay in the car and I'll be back with a treat for you since you've been such a good girl today." Sasha parked next to the gas pump and exited the car.

Looking out the window, Lexi watched Sasha enter the store before taking notice of a billboard with Indira Chaudhari's face next to words that read 'Prosperous Solutions. Building a Richer Tomorrow.' Prosperous Solutions? Is that where Ms. Chaudhari works? What is it they do exactly? Lexi wondered.

A few minutes later Sasha finished filling the gas tank and entered the car. "Here you go, Lexi." She unwrapped a chocolate bar and let the blonde pet take a bite. "I know we're not supposed to feed you stuff like this, but this can be our little secret." She said with a wink. Lexi barked with approval and ate the chocolate with enthusiasm.

As Sasha continued the drive home, Lexi couldn't get the billboard out of her head. She remembered that Ms. Chaudhari seemed to spend a lot of time in the basement and wondered if any answers could be found down there. Moments later the car pulled into the driveway and Sasha cleaned some residual chocolate from Lexi's mouth before heading into the house.
