Tonight seemed no different from any other night. Kara was not the kind of woman to sit around while she might be needed, even if it was the little things like foiling the regular run of the mill bank robberies, kidnappings and shoot outs in her home town of New York. Sometimes, she even thought that she would never a break from all the hero stuff she has done over the years, even when her Justice League comrades worked around the clock to keep their respective home cities, and Earth in general, safe. They had taken on some very nasty things in the past, old challenges that tested their strength of wills as superheroes of the times and they had yet to find one that truly put them to the test.

Hovering high up in the night sky, she concentrated her hearing to encompass the entirety of the city that never sleeps. Filtering out the noise of a common night time New York, she was on the look out for anything that might require her attention. As usual, pockets around the city were already being dealt with by various other superheroes like herself. She made sure to check if they needed her help, but since her comrades were particularly competent in doing their job tonight, there was nothing much that required her particular invincible Kryptonian attention. Most situations ended as quickly as they started. Opening up her hearing to Gotham and Metropolis, the same trend seemed to be happening. Not that she was anywhere surprised. Batman and Superman had that kind of impact on the crime and diabolical evil beings where they were from. The same could be said about Nightwing, Green Lantern, the Teen Titans and her home girl, Super Girl, with their outstanding work here, to name a few of the many.

After a short moment of listening in, it seemed like mostly small fry tonight. She would expect at least some of the known villains of the world to be planning something new by now. Then again, it was for the better that there was nothing truly out of the ordinary to report back with, but she could not shake off the bad feeling she had felt earlier today. So much so that she felt like she really needed to make sure her instincts were wrong by doing this night time patrol.

Just as she decided to take on what seemed like an arms deal some distance away, her hearing suddenly caught onto something strange. She turned to look towards the source.

What did Power Girl sense?
