The Dawn

You awaken as the sun was just cresting the horizon. The windows of the car are fogged up and the whole place smells of dampness and sex. Your back was sore, you knees ached, and you had a crick in your neck from the way you slept. You blink a few times and moisten your dry mouth.

You look beside you. Elsie was curled up on the seat next to you, your jacket thrown over her as a blanket. You stare a long time at her young pretty face. Just over a week ago she was just your annoying little sister. You marveled at how you could have lived so long together and never discovered this connection you now had with her. You suspected Elsie had realized it years ago. The male brain being what it was it took something big for you to clue in. God she was so beautiful sleeping there, she looked like an angel.

Reaching over you roll down the nearest window a few inches to try to freshen the interior up. The fresh sweet smell of the lilac bush mingling with the moist morning country air fills the car. You were chilled so you begin very carefully getting dressed, doing your best not to wake Elsie. You almost succeed but the rustle of you squirming to get your pants on causes her to stir. As she begins to wake you stretch your arm out of the window and pluck a pale purple bunch of lilac blooms.

She sits up and rubs her eyes and smooths out her hair. She blinks a few times then looks at you. You sit with the floral offering in your hand in front of you. As she sees it a bright wide smile spreads across her face, your heart sings. Without a word she takes it, sniffs it, then tucks it behind her left ear. The flowers now framed by her brown hair and face. Sweet Jesus, how can she be so effortlessly alluring? She seemed oblivious to how stunning she was.

She leans forward and kisses you. It was a lovers kiss and it now felt so easy and natural between you.

"Good morning Jesse." She yawns and rubs her neck.

"Mornin El."

The pair of you finish getting dressed. You help her back into her long prom dress. You come to stand behind your car, both of you leaning back against the trunk. Her arm entwined in yours you look out over the farmers field and toward the orange-yellow rising sun.

"This is a big day." Elsie says.

"Yep." You agree.

"We better go home. At least so we can grab some stuff." Elsie says.

"Yep." You say again. If your Mom kicked you out you weren't sure what you would do. You didn't have enough in the bank to survive more than a couple of days out on your own. Any friends you might stay with wouldn't be possible thanks to your incestuous lover you'd be bringing with you. Aunt Peg would likely be on your mom's side. Then it hits you...Cousin Chloe! She had a small apartment downtown. She had always liked you guys and would probably take the pair of you in for a few days, maybe longer if you agreed to have sex with the perverted little bookworm if what you had heard about her is true. Okay, it was good to have a backup plan.

"Hey El." You say.

"Yeah?" She says in her sweet voice.

"Thanks for asking me to play Tekken with you." You smile, recalling the invitation that had started this whole sequence of events.

She gives you a crooked grin and says. "Yeah, no prob big bro." She then teases. "Next time I won't take it so easy on you."

You grab her round the shoulder and pull her in for a quick wet smooch. You each take a deep breath and ready for challenges to come, confident that together you could face anything.
