What's next?
The DMV
Jodie pulled her jacket tightly to her as if the small fashionable jacket could hold back the cold wind that blew through the big cities roadways. Luckily Jodie didn’t have to wait long before Adam pulled up to the curb. With alacrity Jodie hopped in the warm car and right away felt relief when her rear rested on the warm seat. Adam leaned over and gave Jodie a quick peck on the lips, as he pulled back he had that same large smile he had every morning recently. “Good morning beautiful, you ready for a big day?” Jodie finished rubbing her arms trying to warm up and gave a little smile to her boss and looked down at his crotch to see if the man was hard and expecting something special. He wasn’t, and she felt him tap under her chin with a finger to look back up into his eyes. “No, not that silly. Though it is nice to know you think of me that way.” He said with his smile moving to more of a smirk. Considering who she was sitting in the car with it was easy to assume, but it still did not feel great that she was giving him the impression she was thinking of his dick in anyway. “Remember last night when I dropped you off, I reminded you of your appointments. They were on your calendar.”
Jodie remembered him saying something about appointments, but last night she knew Eric was going to be home and was already mentaly home before she had even arrived. Adam must have seen the confused expression, because he leaned over and gave Jodie another quick kiss and patted her hand before looking to the road to turn out onto the street. “For someone that is supposed to keep my calendar, you don’t pay much attention to what is on yours. It’s okay though, I took the morning off to help you get around. Oh, and don’t worry about having to use any of your pto or missing time. I have an in with your boss and I can speak from personal experience that he will let it slide.” Adam gave one more glance to the pretty red head next to him in her thin high heels, dark hosed legs that went up under the long tight pencil skirt that would go below her knees when standing, with a crisp buttonless blouse and a tight long sleeve bolero jacket. He loved how she always looked her best, even that day when he dropped off the homemade soup she looked incredible, even now as he was driving he could see out of the corner of his eye her looking in the visor mirror to fix her lipstick.
Soon enough Adam parked his car outside a building that read ‘Motor Vehicles’ and unbuckled himself before turning to his companion. “Were here, time to take care of one problem.” Jodie hadn’t been paying attention to where they were going and looked around at the busy morning street. “Here?” Climbing out of the car he poked his head back in when Jodie hadn’t moved yet. “Yep, you have an appointment in about twenty minutes to get your replacement license.” He said as he pulled out a large manila envelope from his inner jacket pocket before passing it over to Jodie. “You have everything you need in here. You don’t have to worry about forgetting a thing, we are a team. You do a wonderful job of seeing to me, and it is my turn to return the favor.” Opening the envelope Jodie saw inside a copy of the birth certificate she had gotten from HR, and the already opened envelope she recognized as containing her first paycheck that was handed to her and realized all of this was left in her desk, and lastly the ticket Jodie had earned the other night. Jodie had kind of put it out of her mind, but was lucky to only have gotten one ticket, it could have been more or much worse. The police finding out who Jordan really was and spending the night in a cell looking the way she did. “With that and your photo ID for work, we shouldn’t have any problems today. Are you ready?” Jodie slowly nodded before getting back out of the car and immediately regretting getting out of the warm vehicle as she felt the cold morning wind run over her stockinged legs once more.
Inside the building it was only a short weight before an overworked DMV employee glanced at the paperwork before frowning at the screen. The employee's tired eyes looked to the pretty woman at the front of the line, then to the paperwork and back to the screen and sighed before typing something up. A few minutes later Jodie was walking away with a number and told to wait for her replacement ID and only a few dollars lighter for the cost. When Jodie walked away she let out a long breath as the sound of her heels clicking with each step drew some males attention. Coming up to her, Adam smiled and followed her to the waiting area. “Don’t look so glum, that wasn’t so bad was it?” The problem wasn’t how long it took, this was actually the smoothest trip to DMV Jodie ever had and guessed making an appointment might have something to do with that. It was now Jodie was going to have a driver's license that had a photo of a woman and said female. “Oh, it’s fine. Just a lot of people here, you know?” Adam nodded and gave Jodie a kiss on the cheek. “Tell you what, we can speed this trip up some. You go wait in that line over there so we can pay for your ticket and I will wait here for your ID to print.”
Giving the man a small smile Jodie moved over to the new line and pulled out the ticket, looking down at the fine. The ticket read one hundred and fifty dollars, it was a heavy amount and after having to buy all new bras thanks to the unwanted surgery and giving Eric some of the money that was owed for rent Jodie knew her bank account would not be happy, but at least it wouldn’t be overdrawn. When Jodie got close to the front of the line she felt a hand wrap around her waist as Adam pulled her into him. His other hand held out the brand new drivers license for her to take. “Miss Applegate you look more beautiful to me every day, and I have to say you might be one of the few lucky people to be considered photogenic in a driver's license photo. Jodie took the piece of plastic from his hand and smacked his fingers with it as she pulled it back lightly. “Stop it, I am not.” She harshly whispered to him, not wanting him to draw more peoples attention to her. Jodie was used to being in public, but something about being in a government building put her on edge, like the government knew who Jordan really was and was just waiting for a slip up to come out and make some sort of arrest. “No, I don’t think I ever will. I don’t think I have ever met someone as wonderful as you.” Adam said, shaking his head a little as he rejected his girlfriend's request. Eric made Jodie blush, he made her feel protected, safe and wanted. Adam did not inspire all of those feelings, but still his words brought color to her cheeks. Growing up Jordan was ignored at best, at worst given the wrong kind of attention. Now as Jodie, people gave compliments and the kind of attention Jordan wanted in life. This was not how Jordan would have wanted to have it, but now that Jodie was receiving it, she couldn’t help but enjoy some of it.
“Ma’am”
“I said Ma’am. Miss you are next!” Said an irritated balding man behind the counter. Jodie and Adam looked up to see they hadn’t moved from their position while the line in front of them had vanished. “Oh, sorry!” Jodie said rushing up, the quick movement and small steps in her heels caused the double D breasts to jiggle and with each step closer the grumpy man’s demeanor got friendlier. “I ah.. Here. I need to like take care of this.” Jodie said putting the ticket on the counter, still feeling mentally flustered from what Adam said. She had already admitted to herself that he wasn’t all bad and they could have been friends once with their similar tastes, but this was the first real time she felt an emotional appreciation. Jodie appreciated the hell out of not having to pay for the large orbs stuck to her chest, but this was different. “Oh and here, you can see this.” she added when putting the newly printed photo ID on the counter. Taking the card the employee typed away on his computer and took more than one glance back to the well-endowed woman in front of him before looking to the tall blonde man at her side. The two men made eye contact and an unspoken comment passed between them as if the worker said to Adam. “You lucky Son of a Bitch.” Putting the card back on the counter he looked at the pretty redhead with blue eyes. “That will be one fifty for the ticket and eighty eight for the surcharge. How would you like to pay? We accept most credit cards, money orders and cash.” Jodie looked down at the wrinkled ticket on the counter where it said the one hundred and fifty dollars, but had no mention of a surcharge. “One fifty and eight eight…?” Jodie hadn’t even considered the surcharge the city puts on for most tickets when she was considering her current bank balance. “Yes ma’am, that is two hundred and thirty eight dollars.” Said the balding employee who seemed to assume Jodie was just trying to figure out the total she had to pay.
Opening her purse Jodie looked down at her wallet and slowly pulled it trying to think if there was enough in the account and just stopped when she realized the card wouldn’t be declined, but it would cost her some forty five dollars in overdraft fees. “Adam, I…” Jodie was cut off as she looked to her boss as she felt his arm on her shoulder. “Don’t worry about it honey, I got it.” The sense of dread left Jodie’s gut and her shoulders felt a little lighter from the tension that got released. It felt like the world was actively trying to make sure Jordan Applegate was constantly broke and if it wasn’t for the two men in her life it would be more than true. When Adam was done he slipped his wallet back in his pocket and held up the receipt for Jodie. “I just can’t help myself when I see my damsel in distress.” He said with a smirk as Jodie took the paper from his hand and pressed her lips together, considering a snarky retort. With a light sigh Jodie gave him a smile.. “My hero.” As she fluttered her eyelashes at him, it was a bit of a joke, but she figured he earned the right for her to play along. When they left the building Adam walked with his arm around Jodie’s waist, not the most comfortable way to walk but when they got closer to the car he held out his eyes. “I believe you are allowed to drive again. Care too?” Jodie snatched the keys from his hand with a wide grin. “Careful I just might not give your baby back if you keep handing me the keys.”
Adam, for his part, smiled and tilted his head a little to watch Jodie’s rear and stocking covered legs as she got into the vehicle. She had already started the engine before he made it to the passenger door and it caused him to laugh a little. “In a hurry?” He asked buckling himself in as Jodie revved the engine a few more times, feeling the power the vehicle had to offer. When she didn’t answer Adam punched in an address on his phone before putting it on a mount so Jodie could see the directions. “Well we have one more errand before we can head into work.” Finishing adjusting the mirrors Jodie caught her reflection and saw her genuine smile and a light in her eyes. Despite everything Jodie still had these moments of happiness while rare, and an even bigger rarity was to see what you look like when you are that happy.
