But you already have.
The Consequences of Opening A Barrier In School
Well, first let’s get some of this junk out of my inventory, John thought as he pulled it up and looked at the less exciting things in it. So, all the different weapons with full durability stacked… and so did the broken weapons. That makes sense. Lucky that they stack at all; in games, weapons usually don’t.
Alright, well, I guess I’ll give this guy some of the working weapons, since I have plenty of broken ones for materials. With that thought in mind, he took out eight shortswords, six crossbows, seven slingshots, and the single shortbow. I’ll keep the repeating crossbow for myself, seems like it could come in handy.
“These are for you! And whatever people are left to protect your village. Sorry about that,” John apologized, but Raak seemed to be happy just to have the weapons back. His grubby hands immediately went to a shortsword and tucked it into his belt, which was more like a barely held together band of rope, with a loop for a weapon and a loop for a vial.
“Now that that’s taken care of, we can-” he was cut off as a popup appeared in front of him signaling danger.
Warning! You are no longer the owner of this barrier! An entity more powerful has entered it! However, they are not hostile, so you may still leave.
“Alright, you’re the chief, I need to go… do something.” The goblin man was confused for a moment, then jumped up and down in jubilee. He scooped up the weapons in his diminutive arms and brought them down to his village.
This can’t be good. For a moment, John considered using the scrolls that amplified noise to declare his peaceful intentions to whoever had entered the barrier, but he decided against it. Better to wait behind the walls.
Speaking of which, John noticed that the back of the tower had a spiraling stone staircase which led to the top of the village’s wooden walls. The way the neat, almost elegant, smooth gray stone met the rough, splintery wooden walls reaffirmed his thoughts that the village was built after the tower, not the other way around.
I wonder what the staircase originally led to, John thought as he raced down the stairs. He noticed that with his new agility, he was much faster. Almost unnaturally so. He cleared the distance from the tower to the entrance of the village in less than fifteen seconds running along the curved walls. That’s gotta be at least twenty miles per hour right? Though according to that achievement I won’t be getting much faster…
John skid to a stop near the entrance, and kneeled down behind one of the crude battlements that extended from the wall. He took out his phone and zoomed in on the path to the village, as he assumed whoever entered the barrier would have done it at the same place he did.
The strains of music reached him before he saw a red-haired blur crowning the hill before the village, speeding toward him, and he marvelled at her speed. I thought I was fast, he thought idly as he watched her race along the path it had taken him and Amy much longer to clear. He hopped from atop the wall and landed on his feet in front of the village. “Hi, Jenny,” John called as he watched her approach him… but she didn’t seem to be slowing down.
“Jenny?” John called, and she was not fifteen feet from him before she slowed down ever so slightly, still going too fast for him to get out of the way, and Reflex Mode activated.
Reflex Mode automatically activated! 1 use remaining for the day! Would you like to toggle automatic usage off? [Accept]/[Cancel]
It seemed like time itself slowed down, and Jenny slowed down enough for John to make out her cocky grin. He saw her put her bass away as she kept sprinting, but was too unused to the feeling of this reaction time to do much. At the last moment, he tried to dodge out of the way, but Reflex Mode was already ending, and her incredible speed resumed as she pinned him to the rough wall, cracking it, knocking the breath from his lungs and accidentally forcing him to tap Accept in the process.
-15 hp!
She quickly let go of him, and he exclaimed, “What was that for!”
“Creating a barrier in the school, ya idiot!” she exclaimed but in short order kissed him on the cheek; “And that was for not knowing any better. Unless you’ve already had a talk with miss priss about your powers.”
“I don’t know who what is,” John responded, rubbing the back of his head, and stepped away from the wall.
“Moira Brighton! You should be glad I found this before she did; she would not be so forgiving,” Jenny explained, looking around at the village and the forest beyond it; “You did make this, right?”
“Well, yeah. But my powers make random barriers with random stuff. How big is the barrier on the outside?” John asked, following her as she stepped inside the village. Jenny looked around a bit, taking note of the emptiness of the village before responding.
“About the size of the west wing. Seems about as big on the outside as on the inside. Why’d you make it anyway, couldn’t wait to get into trouble until after school?” Jenny asked as she turned back toward him. Her eyes scanned over the numerous huts in the village before landing on the stone tower. “How’d you manage to take care of all this yourself anyway?”
“Well, actually, I didn’t. The new girl helped me. I showed her around, and in return, she helped me level up a couple times,” John replied, before seeing the look on Jenny’s face, “that’s all, really! I think you two would get along, she’s nice.”
“How nice?” Jenny asked, pinning him against the wall again, her hands roaming down his body and brushing his gradually growing erection. She kissed him, aggressive as hell, but abruptly pulled away the moment her hands touched the interior of his robes. “I dig the new digs, but I doubt the academy would approve. Change back into your uniform and let’s get outta here.”
“Sure, just let me…” John started as he scrolled through his inventory screens before coming to his equipment screen. He pulled the robe off the tiny slot that represented his outer layer and into his inventory, his school uniform revealed to be under it.
“So we’re going to eighth period now?” John asked as he exited the barrier with Jenny; it collapsed behind him.
“As if! I usually go home right about now, and I plan on taking you with me!” Jenny replied; “You may have seen our show yesterday, but thanks to Keith and Joan,”
“You missed the finale.”
