The Company's Commitment To Agriculture

On walking through the car park on her return from holiday, Debbi was confused to see a space cleared and dedicated to 'The history of British farming through the ages and the company contribution to the tradition of the Scarecrow Festival'. She wasn't aware of any particular projects that the company had regarding agriculture, though she knew that going back to the time of Eamon they had always been looking for any opportunity to pull off a publicity stunt that portrayed them in a good light. There were various bits and pieces of agricultural equipment and machinery and an elevated platform with a cross pole that seemed set up for a scarecrow, though the said effigy was conspicuous by its' absence.

Of course, once she got to her office it became clear who the aforementioned scarecrow was going to be. Debbi argued long and hard with Jeff that she had far too much to do to catch up with her normal work that had accumulated over the course of her holiday but she was told in no uncertain terms that Carol and Diane had covered for her perfectly well and that scarecrowing took priority !

Thus it was that she once more found herself stripped down in her office as Diane and Aditty prepared to 'dress' her appropriately. "Great tan Debbi" Diane complimented her, in a display of mock friendliness. "I can see you went topless, though those tan lines show you kept your bottoms on. Not that they covered much by the look of it" she added. "Yeah, whatever" said an irritated Debbi. "What's my costume ?" she asked. "Why, what you're wearing now silly" Diane replied. "Though we do have a few accessories."

Aditty placed a tattered straw hat on Debbi's head and began to apply exaggerated cosmetic freckles to her face. "We've got some nice straw for you to have in your mouth too" the Asian girl laughed. Stew poked his head around the office door. "I was thinking. It's quite a hot day out there. Do you reckon she needs some sunscreen if she's going to be out there for two hours ?"

"Two hours ?" cried Debbi. Diane ignored the cry. "Nah, she's got a good tan already and the straw hat'll keep some sun off."

"OK, it was just a thought" said Stew, admiring Debbi's tan.
