Chapter 8 by Gatsha Gatsha

Will the Captain finally put an end to this?

The Captain puts an end to the Figurehead V.

"Oho!" Mekanee laughed with mirth, raising a hand to the side of her mouth in a haughty gesture. "We're finally going head-to-head, Captain? So be it!"

"That's right, you jerk," Rebecca replied with a mad grin, holding the joysticks of a complicated command console that had lowered in front of her captain's chair. There were ten separate screens, one for each turret, and an array of five separate buttons along each of the two sticks to fire each laser separately. Aside from this, there were pedals that seemed to have something to do with the rotation. "This looks a little bit complicated, but... I'm a seasoned space captain! Those who have been in space long enough can hop in a machine and pilot it instantly. I'll just..."

Mekanee observed as one of the fore turrets began to rotate in her direction with a noisy groan. From her view, the entire front half of the ship appeared to be on fire, so the painful slowness of the turret was even more pronounced. The nozzles of the rotating gun banged against one of the stationary guns. "Hmph. Is that your max speed, Captain?"

"N-no, gimme a sec, I'm just... T-trying not to damage even more..." Rebecca spoke in a quiet voice, gingerly working the joystick. "Aha! Target locked! Now I just... Hey! No, stay right there! Don't fly off, you jeeerk!"

"As if I would sit still for my opponent!" The Meka-Stinger took to the sky, buzzing around the slowly moving turret at its own slightly-more-impressive speed. "You've witnessed my offensive capabilites! Now, take a look at my evasive maneuvers!"

"Sit still! Ugh! FV!" Rebecca whined. "The turret can't hit her over there! What do I do?"

"Captain, automatic firing is highly recommended. In the case that manual fire is engaged, separate navigation of the ship is recommended in order to allow consistent targeting angles."

"I can't do both at once... Crap!" The captain glanced around the monitors as though her lazily drifting opponent were moving at supersonic speed. "Wait... this message here says rotation angles are safety-locked. FV, disable that! If I can get full rotation, I can hit her for sure!"

"Disabling the safety locks on the rotation angles is-"

"I get it, ill advised, whatever! I'll finish it right now, so just do it!"

"Yes, Captain. Full rotation angles are enabled. Captain, please be advised: at full rotation angles, proper care should be taken to ensure that-"

FV's voice garbled and cut off as the Figurehead V's own turret laser immediately cut across the bridge, slicing a clean diagonal cut from the side of the entrance to the main window, shattering it. Rebecca's jaw hung open as the right half of the room slid apart, explosions racking the consoles and the blue skies of the island becoming exposed.

"I... destroyed... the Figurehead V..." she muttered in stupefaction, releasing her grips on console and pushing away the sticks and flickering monitors as if trying to hide that she'd been using them. "The Figurehead V... is blowing up...! Aaah, aaaaah!" she screeched, hopping from her seat. "We're barely staying airborne! I've got to... H-Haruka!" The Captain let out a cry as she saw the Ensign standing in the doorway the laser had half-destroyed, her dark-hair matted with foam. The rest of the stuff had been abraded away along with the tattered remains of the android's uniform as she'd slid around the corridor, leaving her impressive simulacrum of female anatomy on full display, from her small breasts to her wide hips.

"Captain... Rebecca." Haruka spoke with a glint of emotion in her flashing yellow eyes. "We need to talk."

Now that the ship is done for, what does Haruka want to talk about?
