The Build

World: Various

Modifiers:

Skyblock: You will start with a small pocket dimension, where you will be provided basic tools and enough food and water to survive alone for a time. You will be on a 25 meter by 25 meter by 25 meter cube floating in space; don’t fall off.

Expeditions: Each week, you may open a portal to either a known world in your address book or a random new one. You will be sent to that world for 24 hours, typically near a time or place where something exciting is happening. You will be ejected back to your own world at the end of the 24 hour period, freezing time for everyone else (including members of your retinue) in that world either immediately or at the beginning of a noteworthy event. You may take others with you to the skyblock, but only if they are members of your retinue or in the process of being captured by a binding (stamped, wearing tempest jewelry, etc). You may have up to 5 active worlds, and must sever your connection to one if you wish to open a random portal while capped.

Charges- Each method of binding can be used to capture someone only once per world. Secondary effects can still be used. Further, all bindings except those gained by default are one time use and must be regained through the shop, mission reward, or trade-in.

Upgrade- Every time you use a binding other than the base three, you will gain points which you may use to upgrade the binding, or gain additional related perks or powers.

Trade in- Each captured individual may be traded in, swapping them out in return for credits that may be used to purchase various perks, items, bindings, upgrades to the skyblock, access to other worlds, etc. Doing this will permanently remove them from your retinue, either destroying them completely or sending them back to their old life (protected from you and with edited memories as if they’d never met you or any member of your retinue) at your discretion. You must either trade in all members of your retinue associated with a world or pay credits to disconnect them from the world in order to remove it from your list.

Missions- You will be expected to engage with the worlds you find yourself in. You will be assigned one or more goals such as high value targets to capture or kill, local political affairs, or epic quests. Tasks will unlock additional purchasable rewards and grant credits.

Bubbles: You will have somewhat restricted access to the worlds you find yourself in. The regions you have access to may be as large as a continent or as small as a building’s immediate surroundings, but will contain everything you need for a complete experience.

Budget: none

Origin: Walk-in, tier one nobody.

Bindings

The Stamp- a simple wooden stamp that always has ink if you want it to. If you firmly press the stamp against a target’s skin for a few seconds, it will mark them. If marked, they will join your retinue after 72 hours.

Love Confession- if an individual declares that they love you and genuinely means it, you will have the option to capture them by responding positively. Rejecting their confession will not capture them. Sincerity is not required on your part.

Verbal Contract: You may ask someone to join your retinue, and they may accept the invitation. They will be temporarily infused with the full understanding of what this means, including perks, drawbacks, your ability to sell them, and the potential results of that sale. In addition, all effects which could unnaturally influence their decision (****, magic, panic, etc.) will be temporarily suppressed. They will lose this knowledge afterwards, but will remember knowing and may see you in a different light. Unlike most bindings, this can be used as many times as you like across any realm, though each attempt starts a 24 hour cooldown whether or not it is successful.

Drawbacks

(+2) Reduced Function- Adding someone to your retinue has no intrinsic effect on them. Retinue perks (such as defenses) still apply and you may trade them in if you so wish, but they will not automatically align with you, they keep any crippling/categorical weaknesses, and if they have an external power source they can be cut off from it. Many bindings have effects specific to them which will still apply.

(+1) Haven’t seen that one- You will forget every piece of media you have ever consumed. This will be a surface level scrubbing; you may still recognize narrative conventions, but will not preemptively know the details of any world you enter even if the world is modeled on a movie you have watched a thousand times.

(-3) Job Security- If you you may trade 3 company credits for 1 point of Job Security, which can be traded in to maintain your status as a tester after an unsatisfactory test. At 5 points of Job security you qualify for promotion.
