The Beach 2.0

Chapter 29 by Romanorgy Romanorgy

The sand was warm beneath her towel, the kind of heat that seeped into muscle and bone and made a person want to simply dissolve. Stacy lay on her stomach, cheek turned to the side, watching the ocean roll in endless blue-green waves. The sun was high, the sky a brittle sheet of gold. Seagulls wheeled overhead, their cries carrying on the salt breeze.

Tom was beside her, already slathered in sunscreen, arranging his towel with the meticulousness of a man setting a stage. He'd picked their spot carefully—far from the families with their umbrellas and screaming children, close enough to the "clothing optional" section that the air felt charged with a different kind of energy. A trio of college guys had claimed a patch of sand about thirty feet away. They were young, loud, their laughter carrying across the beach. One of them had a lean frame and glasses. Another was blond, muscular, bronzed. The third was wiry, covered in dark ink, his gaze constantly scanning.

Her phone buzzed in her beach bag.

Stacy's hand moved before her brain caught up. She fished it out, tilting the screen away from Tom's line of sight. The browser was still open to AmateurWives.com. She touched the refresh icon.

The view counter ticked up. 4,872. Then 4,891. Then 4,905.

A jolt of something electric shot through her, settling low in her belly. She watched the number climb, each tick a tiny pulse of pleasure. They were watching her. Hundreds of strangers, thousands, their eyes on her body, her face, the sounds she made when Mr. Croft used her. The wedding ring on her finger while she held the phone receiver to her ear. She felt the heat creep up her neck, the familiar ache spreading between her thighs.

She locked the phone, slid it back into the bag. Tom was still arranging his towel, oblivious.

"Beautiful day," he said, straightening. His voice carried that note of forced casualness that she'd learned to recognize. The director's voice. The puppet master's voice.

"Mmm." She stretched, letting her back arch, the movement deliberate. Her bikini top was tied in a loose knot at her spine, the strings trailing across her skin. She settled back onto her stomach, arms folded beneath her chin, and closed her eyes.

She could feel him watching her.

The heat of the sun pressed down. The sound of the waves filled her ears. The college guys' laughter drifted over, punctuated by the occasional whoop. She heard one of them say something, his voice low and teasing, followed by the others' snickers.

"I'm going to get some drinks," Tom said.

She opened her eyes, lifting her head slightly. "Now?"

"Thirsty." He was already standing, brushing sand from his shorts. His gaze flicked toward the drink stand in the distance, then back to her. "I'll be right back."

Something in his voice made her skin prickle. Expectation. Anticipation.

He leaned down, close enough that his breath warmed her ear.

"Stardust."

Her body dissolved.

The word hit like a switch being thrown. Her spine relaxed, her jaw went slack, her eyes glazed over. The world narrowed to a pinpoint—the grit of sand beneath her cheek, the sound of his footsteps retreating, the distant cry of a gull. The fog rolled in, warm and absolute, cradling her in its familiar embrace.

She was aware. She was always aware. The fog didn't erase her; it freed her. Everything she did while wrapped in it was her choice, her secret, her game. Tom thought he was the one pulling strings. He had no idea she could feel every one of them.

"While I'm gone," Tom said, his voice carrying back to her, "if anyone comes over to talk to you, you're going to let them. You'll let them do whatever they want."

Her lips moved, forming a single word. "Yes."

"Good girl." His footsteps faded into the sound of the beach.

She lay there, motionless. The fog held her, patient and still. The waves crashed. The gulls screamed. The college guys' laughter swelled and ebbed.

She could hear them now, their voices carrying across the sand.

"Did you see her?"

"The blonde one? Or the one in the bikini?"

"The one on her stomach. The dark-haired one. Her top's untied."

"Her man's gone. It's now or never."

A pause. Then: "I dare you."

More laughter. Lower now. Conspiratorial.

Stacy lay still, a secret smile curving her lips where no one could see it. The sand was warm against her bare skin. The knot at her back was loose, the strings trailing. She'd untied it herself before Tom had even said the word. A gift. An invitation.

She heard footsteps in the sand. Slow. Hesitant.

"Uh, hey."

She turned her head, blinking up at him. The nerdy one. The lean frame, the glasses perched on his flushed face. He was clutching a bottle of sunscreen like a lifeline, his shoulders hunched, his eyes darting between her face and the sand.

"Hey," she said. Her voice came out soft, distant. Perfect.

"I, uh—" He swallowed. "You look like you could use some. Sunscreen, I mean. I mean—your back. Your back looks like it could use some." He held up the bottle. "Sunscreen."

She let the silence stretch. His cheeks reddened further.

"Sure," she said, laying her head back down on her arms.

"O-okay. Cool. Yeah. I'll just—"

He knelt beside her. She turned her face away, closing her eyes, letting the fog settle over her body like a second skin. The first touch of his hands was hesitant, his palms cold with lotion. He spread it across her shoulder blades in slow, uncertain circles.

Then he began to move lower.

His hands slid down her spine, tracing the curve of her waist. His fingers found the edge of her bikini bottom, hovering there for a moment before sliding past. The lotion was cool against her skin, his touch growing bolder with each stroke. He brushed the sides of her breasts, light and testing, like a kid checking whether the fence was electric.

It was maddening.

Her body responded—nipples tightening, a pulse of heat low in her belly—but she held still. A doll. A toy. Dolls were patient.

His hands moved lower, over the curve of her ass, kneading the cheeks with a confidence that surprised her. He squeezed, his fingers digging into the soft flesh, then slid down her thighs, spreading the lotion in long, firm strokes. Closer to the edge of her bikini bottom with every pass.

She wanted to tell him to hurry. To grab her, flip her over, take what he wanted. But she couldn't break character.

So she moved.

She propped herself up on her elbows, arching her back, raising her chest. The motion shifted her body, presenting her breasts to him in clear, unspoken invitation. Her bikini top was still untied except behind her neck. The fabric hung loose, barely covering her.

She heard his breath catch.

The two friends a few feet away had gone quiet. She could feel their eyes on her, their gazes sharp and hungry. She turned her head, meeting the blond one's gaze through the heat haze. He was watching. They both were.

Oh, this is delicious.

The nerdy one's hands found her breasts.

He touched them tentatively at first, as if afraid she'd shatter. Then his fingers pressed deeper, kneading the soft flesh, his thumbs brushing across her nipples through the thin fabric. She let out a small sound—not quite a moan, not quite a breath—and his confidence surged.

He untied the knot at her neck.

The fabric fell away, pooling beneath her. Her breasts pressed into the warm sand, the grit sticking to her skin. His hands were on her bare back in an instant, sliding around to cup her from beneath, his fingers finding her nipples.

He rolled them between his thumb and forefinger. Pinched. Pulled.

The sensation cut through the fog like lightning. Her back arched, her mouth opening in a silent gasp. The sound of the waves seemed to recede, replaced by the roaring in her ears.

She looked at his friends again. The blond one was grinning, his eyes fixed on her chest. The tattooed one was watching with the stillness of a predator, his gaze tracing the curve of her spine, the swell of her hips. She held his gaze as the nerdy one's hands worked her breasts, imagining those dark eyes on her, imagining him joining in.

The nerdy one's hands moved lower.

He traced the line of her spine, down to the small of her back, then over the curve of her ass again. This time he didn't stop at the edge of her bikini bottom. His fingers slid beneath the fabric, stroking the slick heat of her.

Her hips rolled reflexively, pressing into his touch.

He let out a shaky breath. "Fuck."

The word was barely a whisper. His fingers explored her, tracing the folds of her, spreading them, teasing her entrance. A sound escaped her throat—low, needy, completely involuntary.

He found her clit.

The touch was electric. Her body seized, a tremor running through her thighs. His fingers circled the swollen nub, pressing and rubbing in a rhythm that was clumsy but determined. He was learning her body in real time, adjusting, adapting.

She was so close.

The fog held her back, keeping her on the edge, stretching each second into an eternity. His fingers moved faster. His other hand slid up her body, pinching her nipple, twisting gently.

Her mind screamed for release.

She looked at his friends again. The blond one was openly staring, his hand resting on the bulge in his shorts. The tattooed one had a slow smile spreading across his face. He knew. He could see what was happening, could see the way her hips rolled, the way her thighs trembled, the way she was begging without words.

His fingers pressed harder. Circled faster. She thought of her husband, watching from the drink stand.

And she broke.

The orgasm hit her like a wave, sudden and violent. Her body convulsed, her hips grinding against his hand as the pleasure ripped through her. She pressed her face into the towel, muffling the cry that tore from her throat. Everything went white, then gold, her muscles clenching and releasing in wave after wave.

He kept touching her through it, his fingers working her clit with desperate determination, drawing out every last spasm until she collapsed, limp and trembling.

She lay there, gasping, the taste of salt on her lips. The sun was hot on her skin, the sand gritty beneath her cheek. Gradually, the sounds of the beach filtered back in—the waves, the gulls, the distant murmur of conversation.

The nerdy one had stopped touching her.

She blinked, lifting her head. He was staring at something over her shoulder. His face had gone pale, then flushed. He snatched his hands back as if burned.

Tom was walking toward them, two drinks in his hands.

The nerdy one scrambled to his feet. "Thanks for the, uh—" he gestured vaguely at the bottle of sunscreen, "—yeah. Thanks."

He scurried back to his friends without waiting for a response. The blond one caught him with a silent, wide-eyed high-five, his grin threatening to split his face. The tattooed one just watched Stacy with that slow, knowing smile.

Tom arrived. "Wake up."

Stacy blinked, keeping up the act of not remembering.

Tom set the drinks in the sand, his eyes tracking the retreating college kid. "Looks like you made a new friend."

She blinked up at him, letting confusion bloom across her face. "Who?"

"Him. The one who just ran off." Tom gestured with his chin.

"Oh." She stretched, arching her back, the motion drawing his eyes to her bare breasts, still pressed against the towel. She made no move to fix her top. "He was just putting lotion on my back. He seemed nice."

Tom smiled. "I'm sure."

She reached behind her, fingers finding the strings of her bikini top, tying them with slow, deliberate care. She could feel the college guys' eyes on her across the sand. Let them look. Let them remember.

"I'm ready for that drink," she said.

The rest of the afternoon passed in a haze of sun and salt and secret pleasures. Tom was in a fine mood, expansive and smug, cracking jokes and soaking up the sun. Stacy lay on her back for a while, letting the heat bake into her skin, then wandered down to the water's edge. The ocean was cool against her feet, the foam swirling around her ankles.

She thought about the video. The view counter climbing. The strangers' eyes on her body.

They want me. They don't even know me, and they want me.

It was the most potent drug she'd ever found.

Tom eventually stirred, packing up their towels, shaking sand from his bag. "Ready to head back?"

"Just a second." She made a show of digging through her beach bag, pulling out her sunglasses, her wallet, her book. "I want to make sure I have everything."

She palmed one of her business cards while she did it. Cream cardstock, her name and number embossed in elegant script. The card she handed out at bridal shows, at vendor meetings, at the networking events she'd grown to dread. It was going to be useful after all.

They walked past the college guys. The trio had spread out on their towels, pretending to be absorbed in their phones. The nerdy one was pointedly not looking at her, his ears bright red. The blond one was watching her with undisguised interest. The tattooed one's lips twitched as she passed.

She let her hips sway. Exaggerated. Deliberate.

Her fingers opened, and the card fluttered down onto their towel.

She didn't look back.

Tom was chattering about dinner reservations, oblivious. She let his voice wash over her, nodding and humming at the right moments, her mind elsewhere.

Behind her, she heard a rustle of movement. A low murmur of voices.

"Hey—"

"Yo, she dropped—"

"Bro. Bro."

She smiled, small and secret, and kept walking.

The card was in his hands now. She knew it. Her name. Her number. An invitation, a promise, a trap. He'd text her tonight, probably. Maybe all three of them would. She'd answer, of course. She'd answer as herself, her waking self, sharp and teasing and in control.

Didn't think you'd want to see me again, he'd say.

Oh, she'd reply. You have no idea.

They reached the car. Tom loaded the beach bag into the trunk, and she slid into the passenger seat, her thighs pressing together. The seatbelt clicked into place.

"Good day," Tom said.

"Mmm." She stared out the window as the beach receded behind them. "The best."
