Trigger Word

She's not a victim. She's a volunteer.

Chapter 1 by Romanorgy Romanorgy

The car hummed through the night, a cocoon of warm leather and fading laughter. Streetlights slid across the interior in slow arcs—amber, then blue, then amber again. Stacy rested her temple against the cool glass, watching the city blur past. A pleasant floaty buzz lingered behind her eyes, soft and unfamiliar.

She remembered being called up to the stage. The bright lights, the hypnotist’s voice—calm and rhythmic. But the details? Wiped clean. A warm white fog occupied that space. She felt content. Relaxed.

And strangely, deeply aroused.

Beside her, Alicia sat sideways, knees tucked toward the door, a lazy smile playing on her lips. Her friend’s hair caught the passing glow, turning gold for an instant before falling back to shadow.

“I can’t believe you did that pole dance, Stacy.” Mike’s voice from the front seat cut through the quiet. He laughed, easy and loud. “I didn’t know you had moves like that.”

Stacy’s brow furrowed. “What pole dance? I don’t remember any of it.” She shook her head slowly. “I mean, I remember being on stage, but it’s all kind of fuzzy.”

Alicia’s smile sharpened, turning sly. “Oh, you did a pole dance. And you were really good at it.” She let the words hang. “You had all the men in the audience eating out of your hand. It was kind of hot, actually.”

Stacy's husband Tom chuckled from the driver’s seat. “I knew you had moves like that, but I certainly didn’t expect you to do that on stage in front of a hundred people!”

The word landed.

Certainly.

Stacy’s pulse jumped. The hypnotist’s voice echoed in her skull—soft, commanding. When you hear your trigger word, you will obey. Completely. Instantly. You will do only what you are told. She’d laughed it off at the time. Party tricks. Stage magic.

But what if—

No. Impossible.

Her skin prickled. Alicia sat right there, close enough to touch. Always a little touchy-feely when she drank. Always lingering a second too long when they hugged.

An idea, reckless and electric, sparked at the base of Stacy’s spine.

Let’s test it.

If it worked—if the hypnosis was real—it was the ultimate excuse. Total deniability. If it didn’t work, no one would ever know she tried. She’d just look like she dozed off.

She let her body go limp.

Her head lolled against the window. Her eyes unfocused, fixed on a passing neon sign until it bled into a smear of green. Her breathing slowed.

Alicia’s breath caught beside her.

Stacy heard the shift—a small, sharp inhale. The leather seat creaked as Alicia turned toward her. The front seat conversation continued, Tom and Mike laughing about what they'd do if they could hypnotize thier friends and coworkers.

Alicia hesitated.

Then her fingers brushed Stacy’s bare arm.

The touch was light. Tentative. Stacy’s skin sang beneath it. Her internal voice screamed: Oh my god. She’s actually doing it.

Alicia’s hand paused on Stacy’s forearm. Then it slid upward, slow and deliberate, tracing the inside of her elbow. Stacy forced herself to remain still. Her heart hammered against her ribs, but she kept her breathing even, her eyes glassy.

Keep going. Please keep going.

Alicia’s touch trailed higher. Up the curve of Stacy’s shoulder, then down, featherlight, across the fabric of her dress. Her fingers found the hem at Stacy’s thigh.

A pause.

Stacy’s entire awareness narrowed to that single point of contact. The tiny hairs on her thigh stood up, anticipating.

Alicia’s hand slipped under the hem.

Her palm pressed flat against Stacy’s bare skin. Warm. Slightly damp with nervous sweat. The touch sent a shockwave through Stacy’s core. She pressed her thighs together—just slightly—to contain the sudden pulse of heat between them.

Yes. Yes. Don’t stop.

Alicia’s fingers moved upward, grazing the inner thigh. Slow circles, teasing. Then her hand shifted, palm cupping the sensitive skin higher, closer. She squeezed gently, a possessive knead that made Stacy’s breath stutter in her chest.

Stacy’s mind raced. I should stop this. I'm married. She's married. This is insane. But the words felt hollow, distant. The thrill spiked hotter.

Alicia’s hand drifted higher, her fingertips brushing the damp fabric of Stacy’s underwear.

Stacy’s hips twitched involuntarily.

Alicia paused, then pressed harder, her middle finger tracing the line of Stacy’s wetness through the thin cotton. A soft whimper caught in Stacy’s throat—she swallowed it.

The car hit a bump. Alicia’s hand jostled but stayed in place. In the front seat, Tom glanced in the rearview mirror. “You two okay back there?”

“Fine,” Alicia said, her voice a little too high. “Just tired.”

Stacy remained motionless, a doll with glazed eyes.

Alicia’s fingers began to move again. Slower this time, more deliberate. She hooked her thumb under the edge of Stacy’s underwear and pulled it aside. Cool air hit Stacy’s exposed skin. Then Alicia’s fingertip touched her directly—a single point of fire against her swollen flesh.

Stacy stopped breathing.

Alicia traced a slow circle. Her touch was light, exploratory. Stacy’s body responded before her mind could catch up—a deep, aching clench, a rush of wetness that made her thighs slick. She could feel the heat pooling under Alicia’s finger, the tiny involuntary twitch of her own muscles.

Please. More.

Alicia seemed to read her. She pressed harder, her finger sliding along Stacy’s slit, gathering moisture, then circling back to that sensitive peak. Stacy’s head lolled to the side, her lips parting slightly. She let out a slow, quiet exhale that could have been mistaken for sleep.

Inside, she was screaming.

“Alright, this is us,” Tom said, turning into the driveway.

Real panic flickered in Alicia’s eyes. She snatched her hand back, the absence sudden and cold. The car rolled to a stop. Alicia leaned in close, her breath hot against Stacy’s ear.

“Wake up.”

Stacy blinked. Slowly. She lifted her head, feigning confusion, and stretched her neck. “Wow,” she said, her voice woolly. “I must have dozed off. Did I miss anything?”

Her thighs were sticky. A deep, residual warmth radiated from her core. She knew exactly what caused it this time.

Not the hypnosis.

Alicia.

The thrill of the secret.

Tom laughed. “Just Mike being an idiot. Come on, babe.”

They climbed out. The night air hit Stacy’s flushed skin, cool and sharp. Alicia and Mike made their goodnights and crossed the street to their house.

Stacy smiled, small and private.

She took Tom’s arm as they walked toward the front door. The porch light cast a golden rectangle across the concrete. Her mind replayed every second: the brush of fingers, the slide of skin, the wet heat of that touch.

She had thought it would be fun trick.

She was right. That was the hottest thing she'd ever done.
