The Battle of the Trident part 3

—Eddard POV—

Eddard Stark gripped the hilt of his sword tight. He looked down to see his fallen friend and ally. Than he laid his eyes on the prince and his blade covered in his friends blood. Ned was well aware the battle did not favor their side. Neither he, Jon Arryn, or Hoster Tully has the voice to bring the army back to the field. These men swore to put the stag on the throne and now the stag has fallen. It is clear that his life was forfeit, they were all to meet the same fate of his father and brother. Burned alive for the mad kings pleasure

Ned rose his sword against the last dragon. A winded Rhaegar in turn raised his. If Ned was to die he would die in battle, and if he could take away the mad kings heir than it would not be in vein.

“Arrrgh!”

Ned looked down to see Robert Baratheon moving and groaning in pain a man he thought to be dead. The Stark Lord saw the wound on his back, the cut was long but not that deep. It was enough to cause pain but not enough to cause ****. Ned once more looked upon the dragon and he did not move or take advantage of Ned’s vulnerability.

“Neeeeed...” groaned having turned over to look up at the man over him and knelt beside him. “As my final command old friend.....before I dieee...take the head off of this **** of your sister and do the same to his family!!!”

Ned stood on his feet. “You spared his life, why?”

“Your sister is alive, she is with child.” Said Rhaegar.

“AAARRRGHHH HOW DARE YOU DEFILE MY BRIDE, KILL HIM NED, NOOOOW!”

“There they are!”

“It’s Stark, he’s with the prince!”

—Rhaegar POV—

Riders carrying the dragon banner surrounded the three men. Their spears aimed at the neck of Eddard who promptly dropped his blade.

One of the knights dismounted to meet with the prince. He had a red and white griffin on his breastplate. Sir Jon Connington stood with the prince. Along with Sir Barristan Selmy.

“My prince, my troops have rounded up Jon Arryn and Hoster Tully, what shall be done of them?” Asked the Griffin.

“Take them to my personal tent, they are not to be harmed!” Rhaegar said.

“As you command.” Said Sir Barristan.

“We need a maester for lord Robert. And leave me with Eddard.”

“How dare you show me mercy! You’ll regret it!”

“My prince is it wise to leave you with this traitor?” Said the Griffin.

“The battle is over. He knows if he harms me his life is forfeit.” The prince said. “Leave us!”

And so the lords all left. They lifted Robert on a supply cart to deliver him to a maester. He screamed a thousand curses until there was only the dragon and the wolf.

Rhaegar spoke first. “I know that—“

“Why.” Eddard spoke. “You take my sister, than my father and brother are burned alive, starting a war that killed so many, and now you tell me my sister is pregnant with your bastard child!”

“Lyanna—“

“How dare you say her name!” Eddard yelled.

Rhaegar stayed calm and firm despite the wolf barring down on him. “Me and Lyanna are wedded, In the eyes of the old gods.”

Eddard was about to raise his voice again but Rhaegar intervened.

“You can ask her yourself. Like I said she is alive, in Dorne, she is safe and under my protection and she is with child, I know that I am not gonna earn your forgiveness on any of this. But know that I did not burn your father or your brother. I did not order for you or Roberts ****. I did not start this war. But I will make sure the true culprit answers for his crimes.”

“You would stand against your own father?”

“When he sees that the entire realm is against him he will give up. I will declare my father unfit to rule--

“And take the throne for yourself?” Ned spat.

“I will rule as a regent, during which I will call a great consul to have him put on trial. He will be found guilty and be **** to abdicate, than the consul will decide his fate. I will have no part in their decision.”

Lord Stark paced across the field. The prince waited patiently.

“And my sister?”

“I will bring you to her and she will tell you everything." Rhaegar promised. "But we must stop my father from spilling more blood, convince lords Arryn and Tully to ride with us to the capital. I will have a raven sent to Casterly Rock and Pyke. Than this bloodshed will end.”

With Rhaegar's intentions laid bare, The wolf convinced the others to stand with him. Soon the last dragon would comand the realm to oppose his father.

But the mad king will not go willingly, Rhaegar knew his father, but he knew his words well.

With Fire and Blood. The dragon takes what he wants.
