The Basement

"Fine, Basement first!", you declare as you grab a ring of keys from the kitchen wall, around 2 dozen different keys on one of those stereotypical iron rings.

"Shout if you find a sex dungeon down there!", Sarah shouts as the others laugh as you make your way to the locked basement door just outside the kitchen. You shake your head as you still hear them laughing as their conversation goes back towards her missing sex life and examine the door in front of you.

The door itself didn't look anything special, it was a standard sized wooden door with a few sections of iron to give some basic design and reinforcement by the lock and hinges, the lock itself was embedded into the door with just the keyhole visible around a flowery iron design.

You take a while to find the key, soo many of them look the same, large 6 to 9 inch rods of metal with the teeth or whatever they are called at the end, you make a mental note to start to label them going forwards. Of the ring you couldn't identify any of them at first glance, and those needed for the bedrooms or other locations being used by your friends you had duplicated, so it hadn't been much of a concern.

After getting the right key in the hole and turning it, you can hear the locking mechanism groan as it releases, the door is heavy to open and as you walk through you can see why. The door itself is thick, probably 3 inches of solid wood with the edges reinforce with iron strips which was also mirrored on the frame itself. This was a very secure door, which as you went to get the light switch you hear and fail to catch as it closes and re-locks itself, thankfully with the keyhole present on this side as well. Just to be on the safe side you try the key once again after finding it, and it does indeed open the lock.

The stairwell that greets you is wide and enclosed with banisters on both sides, the walls are painted a dark red above the banister and dark green below, with a a dark green carpet leading all the way down. You estimate its probably more than 1 floor down based on the number of stairs and you can see a door on the landing at the bottom.
