The Base

Sitting in the back of a military 4X4 with Kerry and a private Amber who's first name is Rita driving you are going over the full plan in your head which is all based on one thing if we can get in to the base I stay in the 4X4 whilst the others check out the area then join them in getting the trucks ready to go and loading up what ever is useful in the close area. The base is not a storage area for food or materials on a large scale it is just a small base used to maintain and train people on the none armour vehicles and some outdoor infantry training courses so it would not have a lot of supplies you can just drive up to and load up, it will take time to sort out, time you do not have today.

Kerry looks over her shoulder to you " we are coming up to the main road leading to the base, we are going to have to slow down now so check you gear but stay out of sight for now let the Sgt deal with anyone we might meet ok". Nodding you busy yourself going over you stuff again, you are not in military gear just some simple sturdy non descript combat gear the sheriff got for you two holstered pistols of the big boy type as Dizzy called them along with a further six mags for each pistol in some webbing along with a military issue fully automatic shotgun with a twelve round clip already loaded, but you still make sure the safety is on, along with more mags for the shotgun and a bunch of spear tools you have stuffed in pockets and and a bag of them as well.

You can see the main gate is closed and team A has got out and is checking the guard hut and surrounding area, a little while later the gate begins to move and Sgt Jules radios for you to follow them in as no one is around or has answered any of their attempts of communication. " Ok ladies head to the north side of the base that should be where the long term storage area is and it is are best place to find fully working or at least minimal work needed units ok ", hearing yes Sgt over the coms you watch the base as you drive past and it is a ghost town you would not think thousands of soldiers had been here only a few weeks ago, you got told they had all been deployed to god knows were to try and help .

Arriving in front of a large building with massive hanger like doors, you are told is just the entrance to the underground parking and storage area of the base. Sgt Jules uses a key card to unlock it and the two 4X4's are parked inside, " wow their must be like fifty trucks in hear so what we grab the first six and head over to the base's supply area or what Sgt". Slapping the back of Private Jones head, Private Bluebaker sighs, " really girl this is long term storage we are going to have to check every one of these trucks reinstall the batteries ,any liquid need to run the truck and replace the hydrogen fuel cell that is not even in the same god dam building Becky, a skilled crew could do it all in oh ten minutes with all the parts on hand but we are not that skilled nor do we have the numbers or parts, so it is going to take at least half an hour per truck as long as we have the parts and stuff on hand, which we have to find first".

" Right Privates, Watt's and Ambers you take that dolly and go to the supply room over there and pull out everything on this list here Timothy your a big strong lad take Bluebaker and get me some fuel cells whilst I see just which ones of these ladies are in the best shape move it people we are burning daylight". Getting back in the 4X4 you and Kerry head over to the fuel plant to hopefully get some fuel cells, " Kerry why does Sgt Jules seem to know just were everything is on this base".

Not answering you straight away she sighs then answers, " Sara is fifth generation army, her dad was head grease monkey for this base before he retired and she did a full stint here not to long before this whole thing went down its why her card still works even though she is not assigned to this post now and why she got assigned to this area, someone saw the writing on the wall and made sure Sgts with good knowledge of the areas their companies where going to got put there".
